20 years fom now

I have seen alot of posts on Rolex as an Investment for the future or what current model will be rare in 10-20 years. Are people buying new watches in hopes that in 20 years it will go up in value like the boom we just saw? I bought my 1st Rolex as a teenager and 1 of the reasons I bought it cause everyone including the salesman said you only have to buy a Rolex once it will last a lifetime. The thought never entered my mind if it would be rare or if it would be worth more in 10 years. For all we know the wrist watch might be like the pocket watch in 20 years replaced with something else for telling time. All I know is that 20 years from now if I am still around I hope to be still wearing my watch that I bought as a teen and hopefully it wont go to some astronomical price and a crazy thought comes into my head to part with it.

I agree totally I have two rolex's and I will never sell either of them, One is a 5512 that my father gave to me, can't sell that it is more than a watch and more than money in the bank. The other watch is a sub date I saved up for and it was my 10th wedding anniversary present, and wear with pride for me and my wife no one else, so can't sell that. My 40th is 6 months away and I'm hoping for a Sea dweller. That will be my daily wearer. So I won't sell that. If you want investments buy shares now, buy property. You buy a rolex for the emotion and passion.

Anyway that's my 2 cents worth

Not for investments here, just the quality, and the heirloom potential to pass on to my son. Guess I need to buy some ladies watches to pass onto my daughter...
