Advice on Sub C cracked pearl replacement

Enquired a few trusted watchmakers but non of them are able to do it, approached RSC in singapore and was told that watch needs to be serviced and with pearl replacement will cost a little more than 2-3 grand.

Any advice will be appreciated for any alternatives.

I can't opt for only pearl replacement according to them

It can be done. Not sure where to find someone in Singapore though.

My lost pearl required a bezel replacement under warranty. $2-3 k does seem steep but RSC is your best bet.

I'd buy an aftermarket insert and pull the pip out of it before I spent 3k to replace a pip.

Sell it to a dealer. Probably close to the same loss and you can take your money elsewhere.

Welcome to the forum - how do you figure it happened?

Just looked down one day and there it was a cracked pip?

Or you had an incident and immediately saw the damage?

Yes, yes, I know none of that matters to answer your question. But inquiring minds you know…

If you want to remain original as you said, the only way is the RSC. If you can wait until the movement really needs a service, then that’s what I’d recommend.

my arm swang right into some glass door and the rest was history

Probably the best way is to wait it out until it needs servicing and drop 2 to 3 grand for everything

On the ceramic insert Rolex have now a special tool to replace the pearl only.

Cannot understand why unless there was something else wrong with your watch.

RSC obviously thinks that whatever impact caused the pip to crack, might have been significant enough to cause some damage to the movement.
However benevolent their intentions may be, they shouldn't force a full service on someone who doesn't want one.

Singapore RSC seems to dance to a different drummer than others.

The RSC does, indeed, have a tool to replace the pip only - it is not a DIY job.

The price quoted would be high if in USD.

Ask if there has been a bezel redesign on later series watches that allows the pip only to be replaced. And whether your watch has this.

I wonder if they just did something simple like drill out a hole on the back where they could simply pop it out.

Frankly, I was stunned to hear that mine needed a complete bezel. It dates from 2010.

Rolex has the pip sticking out to far from the bezel it's held by a metal cup. If the pip is just missing cheap quick fix now. If the metal cup is damaged a new bezel is needed more $$.
