Misaligned diamond hour markers in DD36

So I’ve been looking at the Day-Date 36mm range because I want to get one in the next couple of years, as last night I noticed that the DD36 dials with non-baguette diamond hour markers have the 11 and 1 markers misaligned.

However, this is not an issue with the ice blue dial on the platinum DD36 encause that one uses baguette diamonds.

I’ve gone back and looked at prior references of DD36 with diamond markers and they have the same issue. I wish Rolex would use baguette diamonds on their gold DD36 dials.

It took me a few beats to figure out what you're saying, but I think misaligned is the wrong word. They are just between the 5 and 6 minute hashes as opposed to aligned with the 5 minute hashes. Obviously this is to accommodate the day window. I would never be bothered by this but if you are, then I guess you should go with stick markers or the DD40.

My sentiments, exactly! They had to do it that way, in order to fit the larger diamonds in those two spots. No big deal, unless you suffer from OCD.

Obviously Rolex does this because of the day window. And I understand some (probably most!) people not being bothered by it. But I don’t understand saying that they’re not misaligned. They’re hour markers and they’re not aligned with the correct placement of the 11 and 1 hours.

No, they are not hour markers, those are located on the marked track along with seconds/minute markers.

Those are applied cosmetics. As mentioned, it would not be possible to "align" the larger round diamond indices at the hour markers because of the day opening.

"misaligned" implies an error, where non-aligned for necessity or fitment is common with all small machines.

How about on the many ombré dials that don’t have a track on the edge. Are they not hour markers there?

Clearly I’m not as much of a Rolex fan as the people commenting on this thread, because I retain the ability to call things by their name.

If we’re calling things by their name I’m thinking of a word that starts with T and ends in L.

That made me spit my coffee out. Is there a rock and roll band by the name of that word?

on the previous model (118xxx), there were actual hour markers above the diamonds (on the track) which were aligned. the diamond markers were always just cosmetic and it's done on purpose because there's no avoiding it, so i wouldn't say it's misaligned. probably makes sense to get rid of the track for diamond dials but either way it's not something that would stop me from getting the watch. i have the previous model in yg and it's not something i ever even think about or notice and a lot of small things tend to bother me usually

Think about your question?

Consider the width of the diamond marker?

As Larry has said It can’t be aligned.
