Rolexcation…My new term.
Rolexcation….a vacation where one goes in a family vacation trip, and then,
spends all the time going from AD to AD looking for professional Rolex watches available for tourists, at retail or discounted, The goal is to be offered —at least, a Polar or a NIB discontinued Milgauss. Making your friends “green-with-envy”, pun intended. Whats Needed: Itinerary Passport Cash Comfy sneakers & Uber account, Translator App A bottle of water and a baseball cap. If on a cruise, a swimsuit and sunglasses, and Casio. Lastly, family and friends come along for the AD experience. Have a great time!

If you cannot buy from your local AD, odds are pretty good a tourist area AD has nothing to sell you either.

Good luck - the Chinese ruined that opportunity in a lot of places by doing that very thing all over the world for the last 5-6-7 years, in a lot of places if youre not local youre not going to be offered a watch, for obvious reasons, they want local repeat customers, I was JUST told this yesterday by a AD here in Scottsdale.

NOW, that probably doesnt hold true in airport AD's and obvious tourist trap AD's, but don't expect to stroll into the Puerto Vallarta AD or Jacquot in Strasbourg and walk out with a steel sports - I know, I tried:-) same same in every AD I walked into in Germany in 2018, things may have changed with China entering a depression but who knows today. They will at least TALK to you if you wear a Rolex into the store:-) but they wont sell you a watch.

I’d just call it a holiday and you can dream of getting something whilst you are away and maybe drown your sorrows if it doesn’t come off

I’m in no Rolexcation…, just being sarcastic! No need as get more than plenty from
my AD. But in the meantime…a great time in Buenos Aires! Had nice diner at Oviedo last night…and bought a vintage Cartier…

Hope you have fun with that and get what you want.
But for me, that just sounds miserable. With the current availability and favoring locals, it seems like an expensive, empty-handed self-imposed snipe hunt. Especially trying to get a discontinued model nib. I'd rather see the local sights, taste the local flavors, see the museums, go on the hikes and city walks, etc etc etc than see the same "exhibition only" displays. If it were easy to dip into one AD on Vaca and get what you want, that's a different story. Now if watches were actually attainable, I might be inclined to stop in some along the way. |
