Day date gold found in drawer

Hello all.

My dad found this in an old drawer. He reckons he was given it as a child, so around 60-70ish years ago.

Could it be worth something? Does it appear genuine?(appreciate it may be difficult to tell from this photo).

Many thanks!

Interesting story, I didn’t know they had FAKE Rolex Day-Dates 60-70 years ago.

- The diamond indices at 6 o'clock are crooked.

- The 2 diamond indices on each side of the Day window are too close to the Day window.

- The Day is stuck in between. Can't tell you why, but the real one, even the non-quickset model, does not do that. It's usually the replica that advances the Day and Date in this manner.

- Is your dad from an ultra rich family that would gift a solid gold Day Date to a child and forget about it in a drawer?

- Put it on a scale and see how heavy it is. That should give you an indication if it's solid gold or something else. It should weigh more than 115 grams, give or take, depending on how many links are removed from the bracelet.

It's a fake to me, but let's see what others have to say.

Thanks for the feedback!

My dad said he was given it by a rich friend of the family when he was a kid.

Thanks for the feedback on the details. I will ask him to weight it.
Cheers.

Early Rolex Day-Dates don't look like this.

Gotta love these stories... somewhere along the line, someone lied.

Not many places that folks give away 50,000 dollar watches to kids - rarified air indeed.

However, this watch is neither an authentic Rolex, nor 60 years old.

Update about what? I already replied to the 3rd comment, thanking him for the information about the details. I passed on the info to my dad, who said "oh ok yeah it must be fake or it wouldn't have been given to me!" Nothing else to add really.

My dad was given it as a kid.

I was given a very similar watch when I was a little kid. I know a bunch of other people who had them in elementary school. Story doesnt seem that weird.

Sorry, your story doesn't hold water, the watch is not 60 years old.
