Rolex Daytona SS or JLC Master Compressor Extreme World Chrono
Hey,
I am looking to buy a watch and have narrowed my choice down to these 2 models. I am still confused which one would be better. I am comparing the SS version with a leather strap of the JLC to the Daytona. I currently wear a Tag Heuer Carrera Tachymetre. One big concern is that the Daytona would look too similar to my current watch. I haven't tried on the Daytona yet to know that for sure though. I need to make a decision so a friend of mine who is an AD can ship it to me. By the way, The watch would be used as a casual watch. I like that I could even put the JLC on with a suit. Some thoughts on this matter would certainly help out. |

I say the JLC. It is a stunning watch, a great shock protection system, a great movement...
I like bigger watches too so for me...the JLC wins. |

Daytona looks great on a suit... I would say it will look better than the JLC...

I had to make the same decision lol, actually there were a few other contendors - Cartier Roadster Chronograph with the black dial, Chopard Mille Miglia GMT chrono, and Zenith Defy...etc.....
the JLC is an awesome watch, but get the daytona first - while u got the chance, no/low premiums....the JLC will always be there when you are ready to buy another watch.

Well, my friend tells me that I need to tell him by tomorrow morning as he already has another buyer lined up if I don't take the Daytona. He also said he doesn't know when he'll get any more of these.
Durability wise, which would be a better choice? I kinda like how I can put the rubber strap on the JLC quick and take it wherever. |

I love my JLC Extreme World Alarm. Its a similar watch compared to the JLC Extreme World Chrono with the quick release to change straps.
I vote JLC Extreme World Chrono!

Daytona - it is a classic, timeless piece with incredible durability, and it's a Rolex.

Go for the JLC.
I'm not a fan of the classic chrono look of the Daytona, but the JLC's look appeals to me. Plus the JLC has multiple time zones. P.S. If you post pics of the JLC you might get more responses.

Daytona for me. I like JLC a lot, but that watch just never excites me, no matter how many times I try it.

The Daytona has a lot going for it but the JLC just appeals to me more. Go JLC.

Which one do you like best? Most Forum members will opt for the Daytona. Good luck!

The JLC is a better buy at secondary market prices and the Daytona at MRSP.
The JLC warrants a large wrist though.

1 year old and the Daytona is £6000 with the JLC around the £4750/5000 mark.

Thanks for the pricing info. I am getting the JLC for about GBP 6000. A brand new one thanks to me knowing the dealer personally.
I am starting to lean towards the JLC since resale value is a non-factor for me and I am getting a really good price right now. Also, I think I could wait a bit before I start sporting a Rolex on my wrist in terms of my age. |

You mention putting the watch on with a suit, have you tried that yet with the JLC??
For many people it won't fit under a nice dress shirt. It is a BIG watch/ It is a beautiful watch as well. You must try them both on yourself to decide. |
