Help me choose - Breguet Tradition, JLC Tourbillon, or Patek Calatrava
Hi guys, been procrastinating for a while now on my next piece and just cant decide. If you have to choose 1, which would you pick and why?
I have tried on both the breguet and patek, JLC i tried the non-tourbillon version and they all look good. Understand those are quite different watches, in no particular order: 1) Breguet Tradition 7057BB 40mm - $18000 2) JLC Master Tourbillon 41mm - $29000 3) Patek Calatrava 6119G 39mm - $29000 Which would you pick and why? Thank you |

I love that Patek. For some reason I feel like I would reach for the Patek in the watch box more often, too. I don't really know because I don't have watches like that Breguet or that JLC, but for some reason that PP comes across as more wearable in more situations.
No wrong choice here! |

Of those, I prefer the Brequet just a bit over the JLC and both by a long shot over the PP.

Without any other knowledge of your collextion/goals etc, I’d simply go:
Tradition > Calatrava >>>>> JLC |

Not the Patek, was never a fan of the hobnail bezel. Seems like a target to show wear on the watch as well. If you had said about any other model I probably would have chose that.
Not the Breguet, dial is too small. I think looks better in pictures than real life. Leaves the JLC. Looks to be the most wearable of the 3 and with an original Msrp of $79k the most discounted watch on the list. I really like getting watches that have been heavily reduced on price. Makes me feel I am getting my money's worth. |

Calatrava gets my vote.

Breguet
A tourbillon is nice but that JLC is imo not good enough finished Making it more affordable is not always a good idea

The Tradition. Best finishing of the three. Off the beaten track. A conversation starter.

Breguet for me too.
The JLC would look better w/o the tourbillon hole in the dial... LOL Not a fan of the Patek 6119 for many reasons including hobnail bezel, large size for a very simple dress watch, and the (winding) bridge layout of the new movement. There are Calatravas that I might have picked though. |

Breguet without a doubt.
That PP is very long in the tooth as the hobnail is just meh (plus after the first three or four dings...). On the plus side it should be very easy to get with a nice discount, since for many decades none of PP's popular models have ever had hob. The AD should be making you a deal of deals on that one. Imho JLC has not really done anything of interest recently, and so perhaps Richemont should sell them to someone who can bring JLC back to a more interesting time. Imho that would be best for JLC to continue as a brand. jmho ymmv

I think if prices were all the same it would be more of a debate, saving 5 figures and getting, in my opinion, the best of the three regardless makes my choice easy.
I've owned the 7067 Tradition for only 2 months and am already trying to figure out which Tradition version I add next. I love the one you posted it's a contender for sure.

I was in a similar phase back in 2021, although the JLC tourb was not on my list; it was the JLC MUT moonphase. The JLC was just... lacking and while the Breguet was beautifully finished, I went with the 6119G. Someday, I will still add a Breguet to the box, that is my goal.
Ultimately, it is entirely your decision and you should get the one that sings to you most. After all, you're the one stuck looking at it ;-) |

thank you all for the inputs, did not expect breguet getting such a overwhelming response, was thinking patek will be the favorite :)
I agree the breguet tradition is truly a unique looking piece with a lot of history behind the movement, and I love the look. (10k cheaper vs other two, and ~20k off retail certainly didnt hurt either) My only reservation is the watch is a bit flashy compared to the patek which is more reserved that few will notice, i always prefer to fly under the radar living around nyc. My wife tells me i am having a midlife crisis buying those expensive "obsolete" watches, so might as well be flashy and live a little! Heading to tokyo next month, will definitely try to hunt one down with duty free |

Definitely the Breguet. Far more interesting than the other two.
I've never liked that particular Patek calatrava as it seems to have a mish mash of design elements. The JLC is great, but the Tradition is better, less expensive, more interesting, and probably different from everything else you have. |

For sure the Patek - much more wearable than the other 2.
