Daytona pusher difficulties + incoming
Hi guys,
Picked up an old all original 1997 (U serial) zenith Daytona 16520 this week- absolutely love the black Subdial registers vs the silver on the 116520 and it wears stunning. It’s my first Daytona, and only issue I have is that it’s actually hard to unscrew the pushers when I’m wearing the watch- just hard to kinda get my fingers in and do it, and takes a while. Anyone else with the same issue on their Daytonas or is this a me problem? Is it easier on the 6 digit references? ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That’s the one to have right there. The zenith Daytona is sublime. I have two and would not part with them.

Shouldn’t be hard to unscrew the sleeves over the pushers. Just loosen and roll your finger over them and they should easily unscrew. No need to over tighten them anyway as they have nothing to do with keeping water out.

Congratulations! The 16520s trump the modern Daytonas in my opinion. Mine are forever keepers.
I rarely use the pushers and haven't noticed any issue. Enjoy your watch! |

Exactly there main function was to stop activating the chronograph function when not needed. And a French dive team reported on forum that the Daytona pushers were unscrewed and activated underwater with no harm whatsoever. Although not a huge fan of the modern automatic Daytona I much prefer the dial lay out on the Zenith versions

I’d stopped looking at these older ones now ceramic’s so prevalent but this looks great with the black subdials - good photo as well.
Congrats - enjoy! |

Everyone knows the pushers on a Daytona are for show.
![]() That being said maybe they were never used and are a little stiff. But shouldn't be too stiff I'd suppose.

Beautiful watch. I've never had any issue unscrewing my pushers on either 116508 I've had nor the 116500 that I had. Maybe if I overtightened a little it would take a minimal amount of additional effort, but it never is a chore as you're describing.

Luckily I am not a huge Daytona fan but if I was to get one this would be what I would want!
Congrats and wear it in good health!!!

No issue with mine. But i do notice that the pushers have more resistance than the modern ones.

Great looking watch, and it looks to be in great condition … congratulations on your purchase.
I have an 116500, and have no issues with those pushers … as I never use them !! |

Congrats! I love that dial. It is hard for me to access the pusher sleeves to unscrew them while wearing the watch, but maybe I wear it a little tighter than others or my fingers aren't as finessed. Off the wrist, it is easy to screw and unscrew them relatively.
Enjoy your new Daytona!

There are some differences between the two dials which makes the 16520 look nicer, add to that the total look with the steel bezel the 16520 white is much nicer looking in my eyes than the new 126500. To me all steel Daytonas are nice, but some more than others.
