I have been looking at the Rolex 6265 vintage cosmographs. Why are the prices so varied? I’ve seen watches for sale from the 40’s and up.
Forgive my ignorance I am trying to learn.

There will be a huge variation in many details for the watch or the 'set'. To name a few:

- Condition of the watch
- Originality of the watch
- Does the watch come with all paperwork and better still, original purchasing information?
- Has it been serviced?
- Does it have service hands, glass, bezel?

There will be many, many more variables. But the ones mentioned above will result in a HUGE range of prices depending on the answers to some of the questions.

Like anything price is down to what you are willing to pay, but condition if all original paperwork, service history etc effects price, myself have a 6263 that belonged to my Father but would not sell it at any price.

Sellers of used watches set their own price, some realistic, some fantastic. That doesn't mean that that price will be what it sells for in the end

I wish I owned something of my dad’s like this.

Enjoy and cherish it in good health

And that makes perfect sense asking prices don’t equal selling prices
