Without clicking the link, my understanding is dingoes came from Asia. I believe they were traded to the aboriginal people of Australia for the purposes of security. At some point I believe the two species didn’t connect and the dingoes made their way by themselves.
The above is purely speculation and my own thoughts about what happened. There was zero science or experts involved. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Interesting topic, Blansky.
A recent article in a local independent newspaper began: Dingoes are genetically distinct from domestic dogs and their evolution has been shaped by Australia’s environment, scientists who have fully decoded the dingo genome have said. An international team of researchers have analysed the genetic makeup of a pure desert dingo called Sandy Maliki, finding that dingoes are an intermediary between wolves and domestic dog breeds. https://www.theguardian.com/environm...ecoding-genome The "Dingo stole my baby" article refers to a tragic event in Central Australia in 1980 when a mother was accused (and convicted) of murdering her baby when in fact the baby was stolen from her tent by a Dingo. DNA/forensic evidence was later shown to be wrong and the woman (and her husband) acquitted of the murder. Admittedly Forensic analysis has come a long way in the 40 years since this event but it does suggest caution in cases where a verdict is heavily dependent upon forensic evidence.
