The Times They Are A-Changing

Apart from a Millgaus in 3018, I've been of lots of AD waiting lists for the last 5 years In the UK without ever getting a call (apart from an option to buy an explorer ii with a gold sky dweller)

Yesterday, I had a call to pick up an explorer 40. No bundle, no games, just an SS professional on its own at MSRP from an AD.

Proof to me that the market is finally correcting. I predict being able to walk into an AD and walk out with your choice of watch within a year or two.

I won't lie. The inevitable collapse of the pre-owned values will leave me in a financially worse off position, but hey, it's great news from a watch perspective, as it should be!

Majoy congrats! Soon all will be available but typical SS Daytona, etc, agreed. Back to historic norms and all that :)

The interesting thing will be if we see the same shift to AP, Patek and VC.

This is the reason I look at buying a watch like buying any other non-investment good. The money is "spent". So no concern about what it's worth and any value is just upside.

But consider all the “quality” time you had with all those pre-owned references you had in the interim.

That was the theory the entire time.

Yeah, I got 3 calls in less than a month from 3 different ADs for 3 different watches. I'm not on any lists anymore and will keep it that way for a while. Was not expecting this blitz haha.

I asked a local dealer for a pink Tudor chrono a few weeks ago. I’ll buy it if it comes in but honestly I’ve taken stock of what I currently have and really don’t need anything else.

Whoa, they are bringing the Milgaus back in 3018????

Long time to wait for it though.

I thought current wait times were bad!

Definitely loosing up right now as we reach the end of quantitative tightening. But as we enter the easing phase again this wont last long, prices and wait lists will probably skyrocket again in the next 1-2 years.

How is this a correction? Maybe they actually have a chronological list for that reference and finally got to you.

Nice! I've had the opposite experience unfortunately. I did get offered a no date sub but looking to get my father a date and wasn't willing to compromise.

My AD has reassured me I'll get both the watches I'm looking at, but I just don't see it happening. He said around six weeks originally for the stainless sub date and it's been at least 2 or 3 months now? He's a very nice guy but I get the feeling I'm at the bottom of the list for whatever reason. Was planning on a DD next year but if I can't even get these two subs I'll probably just get a gold Santos and a couple Speedys.

I have to agree, it seems like a lot of people on here are passing- maybe their games have damaged the market

I don't know, the Explorer isn't exactly a hot piece. They should be pretty easy to source from an AD even with little no spend history.

The explorer 40 is a very nice reference

Personally I think things will have officially changed once you can buy a submariner date 126610ln as a walk-in customer at your local AD or by waiting for the next one to arrive if none available on the day

Generally that’s what you could do up to around 2017/18 (and every year before that)

After being on a waiting list for over a year, I had the same watch offered to me in the midwest US. Ended up passing and addign a different reference to replace it...
