For me dealing with my AD is the easiest. They offer either cash or exchange with different values for the sold watch depending which path is chosen. I feel this is the least risky approach!

No consignment for me. I prefer a quick and easy deal with either my AD or a Trusted Seller here on TRF. I shop the watches around and get my best price.

Anyone in the UK have any other recommendations?

I'm scared of the YouTube watch dealers and the more established companies don't seem very competitive

I don't like the thought of eBay so it might be Chrono24

I would like to post on the classifieds here but it seems very US centric which makes sense

You could join the TZ watch forum with a view to trying to secure a sale to a member. You won’t be able to list a watch sales until you’ve contributed (over 250 posts I think) but you could look to respond to WTB posts.

I’ve been a TZ member and whilst I have less than 250 posts I’ve bought from sales corner and sold via a WTB post

I was a member of TZM but haven't been able to reach a mod there to reset myold login details (there's no email option to contact them)

Tried joining again many times but for at least 3 years you get a 'Sorry, due to the high number of bogus registration attempts registration has been temporarily disabled by the administrator.'


So I guess they haven't been accepting any new members which seems very strange!

Have you checked grailzee.com? I have been looking at as both an option to buy and sell. I like their model. Not sure if they are International (I am US based). Good luck!

You could try Watchfinder, Luxury Watch Co., etc. or try going to a Rolex AD and see if they will purchase from you for the CPO program. Rolex AD will likely give you a lower price.

I agree 100%, and yes all Rolex watches are expensive regardless of the model or year purchased, its a person's money and they can do what they want, but I just can't comprehend the thought process behind this purchase? Not criticizing, but really would like to know why one would make that type of purchase

I've never sold a watch before and contemplating doing so suddenly feels very daunting whereas when I was thinking I would I'd assumed it would be easy!

The OP must think a BNIB Rolex watch is an investment and should never been worn.

I think you'll sell it easyily enough to a reputable dealer but it all depends on how much you want. I have sold the odd watch if I've needed to and every time I've found the London dealers to either make lower offers or want to consign. I wanted to sell a heavy PM piece to free up some cash for a house move and Watch Club offered over £5000 less than than the lowest offer from well known northern grey dealers. A new 126610 is a desirable watch but it isn't selling for a lot over retail from grey dealers so if unworn you'll probably get your money back if you paid AD retail but that's probably about it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and I agree totally on the London dealers not being the best option

Some I’ve purchased from previously but have been really stingy and others as you say only want to consign

It wasn’t purchased with the intention of flipping for profit it was meant to be used in a trade for a more expensive watch from a grey dealer

I’d already agreed to buy the watch from them but then got a call from an AD offering the SubDate so asked if that would help me with the trade and the grey dealer said yes (to the value of £9,800)

I’d bought a lot of watches from the AD but didn’t expect to get a Sub from them any time soon as had an Starbucks when they came out

I picked up the 126610 and then went to view the new watch but condition was
nothing like described and nothing like the images I’d been sent so deal fell apart and
now I have a watch I like but don’t really want

Not expecting or needing to make on it so yeah it will be easy to sell on
Just want to make it is hassle free and secure as possible

The prices that sellers are asking (not necessarily getting) for watches is not an indicator. You have to be realistic. Businesses have operating costs and have insurance which both protects them and protects their customers.

You'll get closer as a private seller and you'll assume a much higher potential risk in the process. Plenty of people in the UK use this forum and you could sell here, but it is a public forum. We're decent people but thieves and con artists love communities like ours. I would definitely stick to the UK because if the apparent genuine buyer turns out to be a thief you have more chance of redress than you would overseas.
