I think I read a while ago because of the suicide references. And these days I think if the movie shows drinking or smoking it might get tagged as well.

The only 2 Xmas movies on the AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies list are It's a Wonderful Life (1946), The Apartment (1960). It will be my first time watching The Apartment. The AFI is mentioned in The Sopranos.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI%27...s...100_Movies

These are on my Xmas movie marathon for 2024:
  • It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

  • Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

  • The Apartment (1960)

  • A Christmas Story (1983)

  • Scrooged (1988)

  • Die Hard (1988)

  • National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)

  • Home Alone (1990)

  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

  • Love Actually (2003)

  • The Polar Express (2004)

  • The Family Stone (2005)

  • The Holiday (2006)

Gremlins is more than decent I’ll watch that one anytime of year

There’s one of the Mogwai up for sale at one of the memorabilia auctions I follow. I wanted to throw a bid on it but it was already $3k no Mogwai for me

We always watch Die Hard (nothing like a movie with some gratuitous violence before the in-laws visit)

We also watch planes-trains and automobiles. Even though it’s based around getting home for the Thanksgiving holidays, the spirit of the movie is very Christmassy
