Setting time 116610 vs 126610

Hi all quick question. When setting time
My 116610 moves time forward rotating the crown clockwise. The 126610 moves time forward rotating counterclockwise. Is this just a difference in movements between 3135 and 3235. Curious if others confirm and can explain why the difference.

That is a typical difference n the 31xx and 32xx movements. One advances the time clockwise, the other counter-clockwise.

Why, someone that knows the technical side of those movements can explain that one.

Simple answer, yes. This is one of many changes between the 31 and 32** series movements.

Another being, the 32** has a 70 hour power reserve.

Earlier 30xx movements set CCW, then the 31xx added a gear and switched to CW, now the latest 32xx has switched us back again.

Fascinating. Anyone understand mechanically why or how. It feels like it shouldnt be different because date rotation remains the same and is not changed. Just curious

This difference is primarily due to the design and engineering of the movements. Rolex made some enhancements in the 3235 movement, which included changes in the gear train and the mechanism that controls the crown's function. These changes can affect the direction in which you need to turn the crown to adjust the time.

Other than 126610, I've never owned another Rolex, but I have read another that difference in the gear train is there is no play in the 126610.
On many of my other watches, when adjusting the time, there is a lag before the minute hand starts moving.
Being a bit OCD on some things, I always like my hands to line up with the markers. It is easy on the 126610, as there is no lag.
Not sure how much this bothers other people, nor have I confirmed with anyone that this is the case on the 3130/35 vs 3230/35 but I do find it much easier to set than any other watch I have.

I can confirm. This difference is indeed present. Never noticed til you pointed it out

How much "play" is normal on the older models? I've gone from a 3235 to a 3135.

On the 3235, I remember going past the target set time, then going 'backwards' to set time to precisely place the minute hand since there was a slight amount of play.

On the 3135, there is more substantially more slop in setting the minute hand but going 'forward' and gently 'back' will get you right to where you want to be.

Just one of the distinctive differences in contrast between the older and newer generation of movements. Similarly, the 31xx movements were mostly silent in day to day wear, while the 32xx generation uses ball bearings and makes a definite noise while the rotor goes around(similar to a Panerai automatic movement)
