Yes, they’ll be saying putting an AR crystal on an older watch will be a ‘mod’ that will ruin it.

Hey, is there an option to get AR coating on a legacy watch like 218238 Day Date II? Do they only make it for the newer models or is there like a service replacement part? I'd be interested in this.

Astute man. The 14060M I had literally looked ALL glare when I saw the watch in the mirror. It’s a great classic reference but I’m ALWAYS a little dumbfounded when I see TRFers say this is the best submariner reference; and I say that because of all the Rolexes I’ve owned, the 14060M always had the worst glare. People don’t see the face; they see a cloudy glare most of the time.

Well for those who don’t have large wrists it’s the best proportioned sub, but yeah, the glare on that and the 16110 are bad, but easily fixed these days with the new crystals.

I'm very much into keeping a watch "period-correct", but I don't mind AR on the cyclops, as long as it isn't horrendously obvious with that "blue" hue.

Full AR on the entire crystal is a different story entirely imo. Changes the character of our older 5 digit pieces completely.

Agreed, Rolex is smart enough not to do AR on both sides. Personally, I’ll trade readability for a bit of blue tint. Before I put an AR crystal on my 16570 the cyclops looked like it had a cataract. The new one also has a LEC which the original did not, kind of cool.

If we ever sell, apart from us internet watch nerds, the majority of buyers will never notice these minor, non-period correct changes, and if they do, they may like them.

I purchased a 14270 blackout from ~1989 last year and sent it to RSC for a movement check. I asked them to leave the dial and hands alone and no polish, but they identified a small chip on the crystal and offered replacement. Only option Rolex gave me was single sided AR, or leave the previous crystal with a chip. I figured main reason I bought this specific watch was the dial so I was happy to have something that would let me see it better.

Does anyone know if (since when) the 126622 or 126655 have the one sided AR coating? Thanks!

Can one get an AR coated crystal put into a 116660 (Deepsea)? Supposedly the current 136660 does have anti-reflective coating on the underside of the crystal. The crystal size might be the same.
