The SS Sub (or Sub Date) is an excellent all around timepiece. I love my Sub as a daily. Keep it as your initial one. Plus, it has all the memories with your family. Wear it daily, and wear it well.
Beyond that, the sea is vast. Adding a PM piece...whether Sub, DD or other...is a big step. I own SS and TT. Excellent variety (metals, dials, colors, bracelets, etc). My plan is to eventually add a select PM timepiece to commemorate a key life milestone/retirement. Unsure if I'd wear as a daily, in rotation, or just special occasions. Or, I'll consolidate my collection down to a handful. I do feel at times that I have too many now. My guidance is..there is no right or wrong answer. Too many watches to choose from, and no one is right or wrong. You must decide based on what speaks to you, how you will use it, the variety you want, and affordability. My prediction is...like many other here...you may end up with the next one, then another, then another. It's hard to stop with so many great timepieces. Choose wisely.... |

Think you are on the right track with the Submariner + Day-Date combo.
Imo, can't get more iconic than that for a Rolex duo. Let us know what you decide. |

I was lucky enough to be around a few over the last week or two. All types of settings and attire. Last night sealed the deal. While we were at a tree lighting event there was a guy with a white dial 40. It’s truly a wear anywhere with anything piece. And a white dial is what I’m aiming for. Love the pic. Saved it! I thought for a long time that my graal was a YG DayDate. When I got there, I kept it only for a year. Of all the Rolexes I have owned (SS and TT), I have only kept 2 TT (and my first Rolex of 1986). I like TTs because they are a little bit more upmarket than the SS without being over the top. Every now and then I consider a PM (5-digits only), but I think I am content with the 16713 and 16613 I have.
