There is no such thing as one & done. If there is and you are in that camp, hats off to you sir. ;)

I am struggling with reducing to three from 7 watches and there might others in the future...

GMT Black and Grey, versatile sports watch with complication that's dressed up when on jubilee

Any one of these could be a "one and done." The Submariner Date is probably the safest choice of all. It also has a glidelock clasp which means you'll probably never really need to adjust the bracelet except maybe the first time you size it.

Either GMT makes more sense if you travel alot. They are also a little more "versatile." I would never call a GMT a dress watch, but it could pass more in a dressy occasion (especially being on the Jubilee bracelet) than a Submariner would.

I still think the Submariner would be the best option, though the GMT would probably turn more heads.

I’d always go with a diver. I just find the timing bezel more useful than the GMT complication, even though the GMT is my favorite watch

As a one and done I would go Sub date > Pepsi > Bruce Wayne

Sub is the ultimate one and done. Pepsi is an absolute classic and icon but not as versatile as the Sub and the Bruce Wayne doesn't know what it wants to be compared to the Sub if you know what I mean.

More context required.

Buying new or preowned? If new, what's your spend history like, there is a huge discrepancy in chances of getting an allocation? If used, what's the budget, as these are not in the same price bracket?

Plus what else is in the collection?

If I assume new and all things being equal-

Pepsi is the top and the best out of those three, absolute classic, universally appreciated, useful complication, but very difficult to get.

Bruce Wayne sits between these two. Much nicer in person than in pictures, classy and subtle.

Sub arguably the most iconic, although a touch boring/bland, should be the easiest to get allocated and cheapest.

It would be a grey market purchase

Was thinking a sub is classic one and done but perhaps a little bulky in the 41mm and bland/ boring, but glidelock is nice for comfort perfect fit

Pepsi - possibly a bit loud with the splash of red, but many consider as the best SS watch?

Bruce Wayne- feel it looks sleek and more special than a sub, still have jubilee comfort too, annoying with lack of GL though with that and Pepsi. The bezel numbers are a little larger on GMT though compared to sub, do they still look classy etc

It really depends on your lifestyle.

As much as I want to, I can't really wear my Pepsi to work as it is too flashy. So have Sub for everyday use.

All of these are great one-and-done if that is your personality.

Bruce Wayne or Pepsi would be my picks for one-and-done. Can put it on a oyster bracelet and even brush the PCL for a more casual look. I think the Bruce Wayne would look better on rubber strap if i felt like changing it up in the future.

But... if your financial situation allows for it... very difficult to be one-and-done. Haven't even experienced gold watches, watches with higher complications, or the other end of the watch spectrum with "rare by absolute numbers" and "historically significant" watches.

There's no one and done....the correct answer is sub and gmt2. At some point in your watch journy, you'll end up with this combo anyway.

I have the sub date and I wore it straight 7 days a week for the 1st 6 months and then started to get bored with the all black monotone color.

Went back to my AD/rep, handled the batman and "bruce wayne" (they dont have pepsi on display) and got on the batman wait list. I love the splash of blue on the bezel and the blue gmt hand. Figure the oyster bracelet will offset the "blingy" look.

Once I get the batman, my possible last watch would be the white dial speedy. Figure between sub, gmt, speedy and my trusy Tuna, I won't need another watch till I die..

Pepsi GMT, even if it isn't hyped. Simply because I like the style and GMT function.

Pepsi on Jubilee all Day!

The GRNR is a bit dead/monotone...The Sub, super common..

I've always loved the new BLRO, but as an only piece I would go with the GRNR. The Pepsi is a great addition to a Sub, but by itself it's just too flashy for my everyday tastes. The GRNR tends to fly more under the radar and I could pull it off as my only piece more than I could with the Pepsi. The GRNR is a tie for me with a 126610LN. I would go with either the GRNR or the Sub, whichever I could get first from an AD at retail and never look back!

I own both BLNR GMT and Sub 41 so I think rolex fans need both - but if given one choice, the BLNR GMT is more versatile as the one watch and less bland - even though both can be dressed up/dressed down easily. I wear both in business attire and causal wear. The BLRO is nice but personally the BLNR matches easier w/ my blue heavy wardrobe.

I guess if you wanted more "pop" on the one watch the 126610LV Green bezel could be a good one watch also.

The GMT function > Diver function for most people, unless you are diving.

I own all three, and if it were my one and only, I'd go with the the Sub. Doesn't mean I don't like the others better, but the Sub is a do it all watch.
