I watched the whole thing thinking it was a YouTube ad before the actual video.

The only car they got right in the last decade was the CX75, sham it never made it to mass production, was way ahead of its time. XJ220 still IMO is the best production jag since the etype.

It’s offensive. By looking to include the 1% they’ve excluded 99%.

Classic case of people making decisions based on how they wish the world was instead of making decisions based on how the world really is.

Wishful thinking with a wasteful result.

Perhaps they should engage Don Draper to revamp their entire campaign ;)

Sales are the only performance metric that matter for an advertising campaign. I predict this won’t end well for Jaguar. But we won’t know for another year or so.

I legit thought it was an advert for H&M. Or some "lesser" spin-off Dolce & Gabbana brand to sell to the youths on the interwebs.

Absolutely! They're all in on EV (IMO, not the right move, but not my car, not my company) & they're targeting the luxo-barge market. Funny enough, those with luxo-barge money are repulsed by this ad & will go back to the Lexus/MBZ/BMW/Audi website configurator, scratching their heads.

There's a theory that bad publicity is better than no publicity. Not sure I buy into that one.

Yeah, I don’t buy that at all. I think amateur marketeers say that all the time. But they have no idea what they’re talking about.

One of my best friends runs a marketing division for a mid size company, and he says your reputation is everything. It’s all about branding and never doing anything to soil it.

That is fair, I like the post 2021 update with the new lights and styling. Depreciation on that car is WILD, overvalued at MSRP but heck of a bargain pre-owned minus the rubbish jag tech.

This was the wrong year for a commercial like that.

RIP Jaguar.

Shame really because I actually loved their 90’s/early 2000’s sedans and the XKR, F-type R.

Jaguar is not Jaguar anymore.

I still have my XJ40 and it runs just fine but the owners now hanging their hat on EV with a huge manufacturing gap is a big call.

This direction may still change.

In my opinion, discrediting former buyers in this way may indeed arouse interest, but in a different way, like that they will never buy such a "thing" again. In the case of such a brand, trying to replace the customer base is, to put it mildly, a stupid advertising attempt.

I think, for example, that squeezing into a single brand name the idea that they are both part of the super-masculine F1, and they are able to produce small, colorful, cozy electric cars for people who don't even want to know if they are boys or girls, won't work. I think there is a very simple reason for this, these two groups have nothing to do with each other, and as a result, they imagine a completely different car for themselves. As a result, they don't even want to associate with the other group, to be like them.

So I think this is not a bad publicity, which is better than nothing, but it is completely wrong, especially now, after the elections.

I believe this is the car that was in 007 Spectre that Battista drove. Stunning. What a shame.

Also agree on the XJ220. Had a model and poster of it as a kid.

You would have thought Jaguar could have learnt from Budweiser’s mistakes:

I would argue that there is a big difference between a struggling automaker and an extinct automaker.
