I think it's a holiday "flush out the inventory" move during the holidays and the end of the calendar year.

That being the case, I can't see a price increase justification for IWC, and prices should drop even for the Ingenieur.

Surely if that were the case they would just quietly tell their boutiques and ADs to discount watches, not reduce the prices directly on their site?

I think they must have had an awful year to reduce the retail prices, I think this would have been a last resort for them.

Haven't bought a new IWC in decades but noticed the price for a replacement case for an old steel pilot three hander went up from 400 to 1400 since 2012. From very affordable to a lot less affordable. Then again it is pretty cool that they still offer replacement cases and bracelets after 20+ years.

Bad sign for what's to come.

10% less is better than recalling and destroying them. Or seeing them at 50% off on eBay.

Their prices were too high imo, so this is a good correction. It's not a good look for a luxury brand though.

Well, the Ingenieur isn't a SS Pilot Chronograph, which are the models that have been reduced. For example, the 41mm Spitfire chrono, IW387901, has been reduced from $7400 to $6600.

Yes, I since received the following from my local boutique:

"There were price adjustments on some references due to global price positioning range between a few hundred up to $1000. Portugieser Chrono and Autos, Big Pilots 43 & 46, Pilot Chrono 41 & 43".

Thanks for sharing.

Speaking of Richemont, JLC needs to cut prices or at least allow discounts again at their boutiques. I’d happily buy a Reverso right now if they’d discount it by 20% and that’s still kind of high.

Agreed. I would already have a Reverso if it wasn’t for them jacking up prices like crazy the last few years. Cannot justify a Reverso Duoface at $15K or so.

I bought my Reverso about ten years ago from AD.

I am a big admirer. I tried one on at an AD. He said what do you think about it at 22% off? I said my wife and I are going out for lunch across the street Will discuss and return within an hour. Bought it, love it. As I recall, the Duoface cost me approximately $5500.

Reverso prices are not sustainable, not if JLC wants the watch to be a viable alternative to the other dress watch options out there.

I don’t fault JLC for their prices. I think that they represent where the brand wants to be positioned and it has to be positioned above IWC and Panerai.
Are the prices high, no but they do represent a watch with more handwork than a Rolex. I think their prices on the stainless steel watches are comparable to GO which many consider to be a comparable brand.

I agree, same with the Polaris variants.

That’s a steal! Gf and I are looking for matching watches, and she really likes the Reverso. I’d love to have one too but they are quite pricey nowadays. ADs can do 12-13% off max which basically covers tax here. Wish I had picked one up back then but I was waiting for a Daytona which I did get. Now that JLC bumped it up so much, I’d rather put that money towards a different brand like VC.
