Now That I've FINALLY Purchased from the AD....

All ADs are free to sell to whomever they want. There is no usual protocol or spend limit you must meet. Each AD has their own criteria for allocating their watches. My AD has sold sought after sports watches to brand new walk in clients. Building a relationship can be helpful. My AD has no previous spend requirement, before you get a sought after model. They explained to me that they try to satisfy all of. their serious clients, as best they can. They do screen potential clients to prevent selling to flippers. So far, I’ve gotten an OP, a bimetal DJ and a 36 mm Explorer. I was told I can ask for, and they will try to get, any model I want next. Good luck.

Kat

If you insist on buying from an AD vs grey and have the money and don’t want to wait, you just have to buy an expensive bracelet or something. Spend $35k on jewelry, get whatever Rolex you want on the spot or very quick.

To the OP, you’ll get taken care of. They’re not going to expect someone who buys a daydate to want a two tone explorer. You’ll get what you want in time.

I don’t think the floodgates of super-hyped SS sport watches are going to open up after one PM purchase.

I can see a Sub or a SS GRNR/BLNR but not a BLRO, SS Daytonas or blue/green dialed SkyDs.

I consulted the oracle and she said

My AD said you need to spend around 40-50k spend for a BLNR. So you've probably built a relationship to get you a sub & a BLNR.

A BLRO or blue & mint Sky Dweller is going to require a much higher spend.

Totally depends on your AD. My SA left but we still stay in touch, even now. I was bitching a bit to him about how I seemingly got cut off after he left. I pointed out that my spend was over 100 in right at 3 yrs. He quickly pointed out they have customers that routinely spend that in a single non-watch purchase(high margin jewelry). My guess is your PM GMT isn’t going to get you the attention you think.

If I was buying a $43k PM piece, I would have used that as leverage and insisted on bundling it with an SS piece... or no deal.

Your Sales Assistant is the best person to answer your questions since every AD has different policies. They can sell to whoever they want and make up their own rules.

I don't think they will offer you BLRO or SkyD Green dial because they don't receive a lot of those. However, it is very possible to obtain BLNR, VTNR or something else

Exactly... I see a minty green dj41 for 10,500 vs 16,000 grey market

The only person who can answer this question is the Sales Assistant at your AD. The people in this forum have no idea what your AD will sell you and when.

First, let me start out by saying congrats on your new watch!.....and first time purchased from an AD! Before I bought my first one there, everyone always says that you should try to have the AD experience at least once. I agree, as my SA made it pretty special and enjoyable! I hope your experience was a good one.

As far as your new piece.....the full YG GRNR is a beauty! I personally really love that one, but my wallet doesn't. I hope you purchased it because you truly wanted it and not to try to open the SS sports watch "door". As for that "door", I suspect that it is definitely further open now than before you made your purchase. YMMV as you can see by the other responses, and there is no real hard formula or $$$ amount number to get a certain piece. It all depends on the AD and SA.

If I were you, I would pick the watch you want (even if it is a BLRO) and ask for it. If you don't ask, you definitely won't get! Start playing the "game" and keep going back to visit your SA whenever you can. I suspect your chances will be pretty decent to eventually get something. Good luck!

great advice - tbh i have to re-try on the sky d - i don't know why the 42mm explorer 2 works and my 44 mm panerai works and any 42mm or 42mm ROO works - but when i tried that sky D it was just too high on my wrist. i need to go back in lol.

the problem is i have the blnr so i really don't need the pepsi at all - i'd have to do a swap out i don't need two plus the 2 tone gmt plus the all gold. a VTNR would work lol.

but i was going to tell them what i wanted and what i don't want for sure. they can cross the stainless steel daytona off the list but i'll buy the white gold one on oyster flex ;)

Like - because I spent a large sum would it be likely they would sell me a Pepsi? Or a Minty Green Sky D? TBH everyone loves that ceramic Daytona but i have a rose gold one and i have an explorer 2 with Polar dial - so the all black wouldn't be for me and the panda dial would not be sexy for me at all. I'd never buy it and I'd never buy it and flip it.

Just curious people's past experience on how they built momentum at the AD and what kind of great things they got from it.

If they made you buy a 2 tone explorer 1?? Or a steel 36mm oyster date just with a smooth bezel maybe don't tell me about that - it will make me cry a little if that's how it went for you.

Which PM watch did you buy ?

We said that we were approaching our 20th anniversary in 2 months and told him that we were thinking about a getting watches to celebrate. He asked what we'd like and I said that I would like a white SS ceramic Daytona (half joking) and that my wife would like another DJ (she was wearing one). He laughed at my request at first, but after we talked for a while longer, he told me that he would see what he could do. I walked out of the store with the Sub and 3 weeks later the Daytona and DJ. I've found that people usually try and take care of people that they like and in this case that rang true.

But yeah, I guess I could have played it your way and posted on an Internet forum asking what everyone thought about my chances of asking an AD for a specific watch at a later date rather when I was standing there wallet in hand.
Well done

You may stand more chance with the mint green SkyD. Wouldn’t bother asking for a Blue though.

I guess become your SAs best friend, bring gifts, visit often, buy lots of non-Rolex items, etc if you can stomach/afford it. Otherwise, probably just go grey market and pay the premium. Personally I'm having problems with the AD games, too much judging/politics going on and I'm not sure I really need any more of these watches. The whole process now seems somewhat demeaning, at least for the regular person, imho.

I would be very cautious about building any relationship with the AD just to attempt to get what you want. The way the AD landscape is changing, those relationships can be meaningless in short order and then you are left with a haul of watches you really don’t love and the chance of getting the coveted SS models gone. Consider just buying grey market. I highly suggest the list or recommended independent watch dealers in the forum.
