Agreed - would prefer the lume on the hands to be matched however but to each their own as always.

Personally, I am very happy the way it is and am still loving the glossy, shiny dial. The more I have it the easier it is to read.

I remember when I purchased a black Daytona many moons ago. I walked out and couldn’t read it. A month later, my eyes had adjusted and all was well…

Picking mine up this Friday. Dropped the EW 321 SS off of my list.

Orange stitching stands out a bit more but black and orange still the way to go I think. Pick my strap up later today.
I wonder if a navy stitch on a dark brown strap would work. A bit out there maybe…….

One hell of a watch. If it came with an exhibition caseback...

I’m liking that a lot. Still love the black/ orange but that will work.

Maybe an early Christmas present to myself….

@Cru- yup, those are really great photos. I need to see this one and the white dial in person. The faux markers are my only reservation as the rest is perfect. I figure by next summer an average person might be able to handle both and make some decisions. Thanks for sharing these...

Definitely a pair to try on. The darker markers suit it given the inky, glossy dial. The main consideration is whether you like the straight lugged speedy or not. Personally I prefer them over the lyre lugged versions.

The white is very nice though. Personally, I prefer it on the black racing strap and would buy the Apollo 11 flatlink to go on it as am not a huge fan of the new bracelet. That may in fact be my next purchase and I think those 2 would make a fair daily duo.

I had reservations about the index color before seeing and trying on the watch. IRL, the markers look really good, IMHO, against the sunburst grey/blue/black chameleon dial. They warm and soften the overall look.

The white lacquer dial looks really good in pictures, especially on the black rubber. For me, though, the dial was a bit flat IRL when I tried it on. From a distance when wearing it, all the fine details, like the sunken sub dials, get lost. I prefer the OG Moonwatch for that reason. Just my two cents… Many love the new white.

I keep trying but I just can't quite pull the trigger on this one (in the grey market, or used, since I can't get one new). It's just a lot of money and I keep falling back on the "it's too dressy for everyday wear" unlike my Sub.

But now that I see that it looks so nice on a strap, I'm starting to second-guess my second guessing.

@ MJB: Astronaut Gene Cernan's Speedmaster was really really worn, from pictures. Even lost its bezel. It started out as a sparkling shiny new 105.003 I assume...

It’s absolutely fine for everyday. I wear mine a lot - however as you say on a strap it just blends in.

It’s a lot of money, but it’s a really good watch.

Thanks Steve. I actually almost bought one last week (found a nice presumably demo but NIB if that makes sense) gray market, which saves me sales tax, but then I had second thoughts because I had to go for an emergency dental visit. Now I'm on antibiotics and after the new year going back for a root canal and new crown, which was what I was afraid of, since my dental insurance is not much better than self-insuring (i.e. it ain't payin' for much).

I mentioned this to the wife last night and she started up with her usual YOLO argument, I deserve it, etc. although apparently I don't deserve it enough for her to buy it for me. LOL

TBF, she did buy me the Submariner.

As an original FOIS owner, this fixes every criticism I have of that watch. Were it not for the fake lume I’d probably have already pulled the trigger. Well, that and it’s 120% more than I paid new for mine!

I just listed mine recently. It’s a gorgeous piece but didn’t diversify my Speedy collection enough. Ended up getting the Flight Qualified last night which suits my collection better.

Hey Michael - getting the teeth sorted is more important. Hope it didn’t spoil your Christmas too much!

These will be out there when the time comes, so all good, although if my wife had given me the green light to buy a watch it would have already been on the way to me!
