Y-serial (2001-2002) Daytona 116520 with skinny hands and Patrizzi dial?

Hi everyone,

what are your thoughts on the possibility of a Y-serial early daytona 116520 being fitted with a Patrizzi dial?

I am looking at a piece being offered, and it has some pretty serious discoloration on the subdials.

Possibly had the same error as the 16520 Patrizzi dials, or do you think it is intentionally/artificially done?

Thanks.

Ps i cannot post a photo of it because my post count is still below 10!

If you size the photos properly you can post them through the manage attachments function. Or just make some substantive contributions to the community and you will soon be able to post links.

I'd be surprised, even without seeing the photos, if it is a genuine discoloration. By chance, is the watch from Italy?

Thought the Patrizzi dials were only on the 16520s...

No mate, it is not. No provenance, papers, known history other than it being serviced previously by Rolex in 2018.

That is the well established common knowledge as far as I can find too.

Not possible. Completely different dial designs on 16520 vs. 116520 (and different movements).

Now, could a 116520 have discolored sub-dials? I suppose so, but not like a Patrizzi. Any dial can be damaged by the elements (especially with water ingress) or intentionally aged.

Early white thin hand 116520 can turn cream but never seen a patrizzi 116520…..probably artificially colored

I had a couple of white dial Y series 6 digits (one steel, one two tone) that dials went a light yellow hue (which was quite nice), nothing uber cream/dark yellow mind.

Oh yes, and on the two 6 digit Daytonas with black dials I once had; the earlier thin hand had a more goldy sub dial hue than the later thick hand which were a lot more silvery. Don't have a photo to show unfortunately, but it was reasonably noticeable.
