I like the watch. It looks like it was made out of parts left over from the Manhattan Project, the JAWS shark, and a diesel locomotive.

Hublot quite a young brand horology speaking was mainly ETA quartz now using quite a few mechanical. Some nice chronos in there line-up but IMHO over priced for what they are.

I wouldn't. They almost remind me of an AP RO knock off

You can get much 'bigger bang' for your buck, IMO. I think it's popularity is all marketing hoopla... Watch of the year my ar$e... I agree that it looks like an AP knock-off and it's a helluva premium for what it actually is. To me, it's more a fashion statement than a true watch.

I agree with all those points. I see this a lot on TZ - I mean the watch that becomes the "darling" of the moment, and then the very fickle crowd there moves on to something else. In my view this is just a passing fad watch.....

Yup... I pity anyone who purchased it BECAUSE it's the flava of the week. If/when they try to move it, they'l be in for a rude awakening.

I like the Big Bang. Since Biver took over the company they have been much more active. The Big Bang uses a specially modified ETA 7750 movement, which has been proven reliable and robust. Of course, the main claim to fame of the watch is that it uses a fusion of rubber, ceramics, and metal for the case. The dials are pretty nice too and many owners think the watch is cool.

Would I get one if I had the money? Maybe. I wouldn't hesitate for quality reasons or anything like that. But in my personal case, if I were looking for a high end sport chronograph, I think I would look first at the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore and also the Vacheron Constantin Overseas. The finishing of the movement is going to be a lot better and these models have long ago earned "elite" status, the Royal Oak design is considered an icon.

Horological history may not matter to you though. Hublot has won design awards for their Big Bang when it came out and I think it looks pretty cool. If you like it, I would buy it. Or if part of your goal is to be one of the first to own a potential future legend you could take the risk that implies and get it. If your goal is status, I don't think most people are going to know any of the three brands, so I think you are on equal footing there. Good luck.

I can't help thinking that the 'big bang' watch is the watch that Homer Simpson would have designed if he had not been head hunted by Jacob & Co.

And really "Hublot" isn't pronounced who-blow for nothing.

I saw one on TZ not long ago for sale.....went back to find it.

As he says, lots of nibbles but no bites. Although it's not as much of a drop in value as I would have expected from MSRP, it's certainly not demanding a premium either.

That's right... we saw three side by each, all different colour combinations at Louis Black (on that wicked cool mega-winder) and they were pretty unremarkable.

Yes, in a heartbeat!! Not a AP knockoff IMHO by a longshot. Very cool and innovative watches that have great presence on the wrist.

I have tried on the strap and bracelet model and am still thinking of picking one up.

I love the carbon dial with the rubber bezel.

To be honest, I could give a rats hind quarters about the manufacture movement and all that. Hell, I choose to wear a Pannie and that is not horology at its finest.

I love the unique look and feel of WHO-BLOW. To me that is what draws me too the watch. Plus I know that their owner, Mr. Biver is an enthusiast that wants to see his baby grow.

I am simply a fan of their watches.

You mean "carbon dial w/ ceramic bezel"...right?
It's growing on me as well...(I was considering the tantalun bezel one as well (limited edition one), but just concluded that it does not match (IMHO) with the black dial.
Would you be considering the 18K gold or Steel?

For sure, this gentleman Mr. JC Biver (the actual CEO) seems to be an enthusiast and pasionate...He does take care personally of a lot of customers' inquiries and requests...a trully oustanding service that I NEVER saw something like that on any brand. it really pushes eventual interested ones into the brand with confidence.
