5524R vs 5235R vs 5212A

I know it's a weird match. However, I'd love your inputs on which one would be a great first Patek?
I currently own 126715 (Full RG root Beer)
136660 Dblue (DSSD)
116610LV (Hulk)
124300 (Green OP)
NTTD Seamaster
Tudor FXD

Very Very Diver heavy and in need of change.
I'd be moving the DSSD for this trade.

I love most of them, it'll be more of a weekend watch.
The most interesting for me is probably 5235R and 5212A
but the 5524R seems to suits my large frame well.

Just wanted your opinion.

Have you considered the 5396g or r ?

Similar price to the TT and reg you mentioned, but it's classic patek. It's a very nice watch.

Out the 3, 5212A for me. Mainly because I'm not as keen on the other two, although I think the travel time is very nice, it might suit you more if you like bigger watches. Aesthetically it is very sharp and very balanced on the dial, I think they did a perfect job for what it is.

I've never considered one as I've honestly never seen one in the flesh. Does look interesting!

Both 5524 and 5235 look good on you - would go with the latter as it’s the more interesting piece all around: case, dial and movement are all nicer.

5235 100% all day. More modern looking and wearing. Others are great but you will get more broad usage of the cooler looking watch

5235r is the best watch Patek makes in the Complications range. It is the most interesting and dramatic visually with the case, buckle, lugs, proportions and even the dial. And the movement is a work of art.

Thanks! I'm leaning towards the 5235 as the function would be new to my collection (annual calendar) but the 5524R definitely gives a more sporty looks

Can't argue with that! I'm leaning towards it the most as comparing market value to retail it's a crazy bargain

For Rolex owners venturing into the Patek world for the first time, it cns be tough finding that first Patek. It really depends on what you are looking for in Patek.

I don't own any of the 3 above, but have tried on all 3 at Patek ADs. If you are an active person and looking for a weekend Patek, I would say go for the SS Patek. The pilots watch has the largest wrist presence and typically the most natural first Patek watch for Rolex owners who are used to larger watches. The regulator is more of a special watch for watch aficionados. It takes your brain a little time to adjust to reading the time on a regulator, but it is really a special watch.

If I had a choice between the three, I would get the 5212A for myself, partly because I already own a SS travel time and the regulator in WG. Although I also own a SS calatrava, the weekly calendar Calatrava in SS is a first for Patek.

That 5235 is the most interesting watch complications wise but that 5524R is hard to beat on your wrist IMHO. It will feel the most at home on your wrist probably as well coming from that Rolex collection and can be worn daily (unless it is too blingy for your job with its wrist presence) with a great complication. The legibility (and lume) is second to none and that rose gold with black-brown sunburst dial is simply out of this world.

It might very well be that you will tend towards putting on that Pilot very very often after which you get more and more drawn to Patek. Later on you simply add that 5235. ;-)

If I had to rank them I'd go 5235 >> 5212 and 5524 but voted None of these. I don't find 5212 and 5524 attractive and wouldn't get enough wear out of the 5235 regulator.

5235 > 5212 > 5524 ; 5212 is a beautiful watch and a strap monster I just find it too light; 5524 is too bulky for me which is kind of weird since I wear a Lange ZW on a regular basis. 5235 is an interesting complication and looks really nice

I am also contemplating my first Patek but I voted none of these.

I like the 5524 but could not live with the huge warts at 8 and 10.
The Regulator is interesting but more of a niche piece and not a 1st Patek.
The 5212 is attractive but the complication is completely useless to me, but then most complications other than a date are not terribly useful.
