Bezel differences 16233 and 18238

Hi Guys,
Got myself a very nice 18238 last week, was searching for it quite some time now.
When I took out my wife’s 16233 I noticed that that bezel is much bigger than mine. The 16233 case looks like it is more polished (lugs are smaller) but the bezel of the 18238 is about 0.5mm smaller than the 16233 bezel.
Is that correct?
My 18238 is a L serial from 1989 and the 16233 is from 1999 u serial.
