Okay. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. It reminds me of the Blue Side of the Moon, except in SS and with a meteorite dial. The moonphase is essentially a same with the reverse disc showing the southern hemisphere.
So in a word, I've kinda seen this before. I'm guessing it's also the same movement except with the self-winding mechanism being hacked off, like they did with the Speedmaster '57 release not that long ago. So that being said, I wouldn't pay that kind of money for it. It doesn't move me as much. I don't know if anyone say Tim Mosso's Watches Tonight episode the other day, but the subject was how can Omega capture their former glory, and one of the criticisms he had was that Omega needs to up their movement game. The Co-Axial, as impressive as it may be, it getting long in the tooth, and caused the movement to be too thick. Add an automatic mechanism to it, and it gets even thicker. Just hacking off the automatic feature to get a thinner movement is not going to cut it. The power reserved also has to be beefed up to match the 70 hours that Rolex movements currently have. All good points, but I think this release illustrates what Tim was talking about. Omega has to do more and be more bold if they want to regain second place over Cartier. |

Why 0-29 0-29 on the moon phase dial?

Price is crazy high for a speedy. Snoopy with animated back is much more complicated and cheaper.

The Chinese calendar also follows a form of a lunar calendar system, where the months are either 29 or 30 days long, based on the lunar cycle. The months alternate between 29 and 30 days, and the calendar adjusts every few years with a leap month because it also follows a solar cycle. |

Here are my 2 cents. I had the luxury of handling and seeing both versions side by side today. I felt for my wrist the proportions were perfect. That being said I would have preferred the bracelet on the FOIS over the one it has. I gravitated towards the black dial over the silver as the silver has snoopy vibes and I’ve never been a fan of it. When I put it on it did not feel like a hockey puck like the older moon phases and I had no complaints in terms of looks. I did wish the power reserve was longer but really that’s about it. I will say that in the flesh it’s a solid 9k-11k watch but it’s not worth msrp + tax. That is unless it was a limited piece run. I’m definitely putting it on the list of pieces that will be added to the collection this year but at the right price.

Looks great. I’d consider buying it if it didn’t have the moon phase complication. I am not a fan of it.
Would’ve preferred the traditional chronograph complication and a date subdial neatly tucked away at the 6 o’clock marker. I don’t like having more than 1 hand on the sub dials either. But that’s because I’ve got poor eyesight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I really like the idea of meteorite dials, but this one is not for me. Way too expensive!

Looking forward to some real world shots of this one. There are aspects I really like about it like the meteorite dial and case dimensions. But that two hemisphere subdial just bothers me. Prefer the moonphase layout of the watch shalako is showing, but with the dimensions of the new one. Oh in a perfect world we could pick an choose features from several different watches and tell Omega just to make it for us.
Unfortunately the old and new versions both suffer from a date complication you can't read and a two hand chrono that can also be difficult to decipher at a glance. |

Love the idea of these, but will need to see in the metal.
My only hesitation is that it's manual wind. It's fine on a time-only watch, but now I have to update the moon phase too unless I keep it wound. |

At least with a standard Moonwatch all you need to do is set the time. |

TBH I think this watch would look dramatically better without the moonphase. They could put a date window there instead to improve legibility and reduce dial clutter.

My fav watch in my large collection is the blue side aventurine
I don't like these though. Not a huge fan of meteorite and I don't understand the appeal of the giant bottom subdial with dual moon. Hermes' version of this complication which encompasses the whole dial is really cool - but I find all the dual moonphase does in this case is add an unnecessarily large and assymetric third subdial. The Micky mouse shaped thing that obstructs the moons is hard to unsee too. |

Before the watch was reveals, some of the teaser shots showed closeups of the dual moonphase. It looked very rough and unrefined. The printing looked amateurish, and the cutouts to show the moons looked stamped cut with no further refinements.
I swore this was going to be another MoonSwatch. I was wrong, but I am shocked that at the price Omega wants for these, there seemed to have been no attempt to make the dial more refined. |

This moon display is so much nicer than the new one. The oversized subdial on the bottom just looks odd (Sky Dweller vibes).
