correct bracelet for 1966 1019
Hello!
I've inherited my father's Milgauss 1019 (1966), and am in a position to get the correct bracelet for it. In the early 70's, he had to get it repaired, and the original bracelet was replaced with a 78360. I've had mixed info coming back to me on what the correct bracelet + end links are supposed to be; a 7206 with 58 or 80 end links, or a 7836 with 380 end links. Thanks for any help you can provide! |

Welcome - Not really my wheelhouse, earlier rotating bezel Milgauss my thing, but the earliest 7836 I've ever seen was either a 4/67 or 1/68 stamped clasp.
So I'd suggest it would have been Fixed 7206 or Flexi rivet 6636, or North American manufactured C and I bracelet possibly if sold in US, but not a 7836 if the 66 date is correct ! Ref date - have you checked date on inner caseback? Theres a good database here too on caseback numbers / year http://vintagerolexforum.info/vrf/index3.html NB It's down at moment but should be up soon. Here's a good bracelet guide but years are one or so years out on some. https://rolexhaven.com/bracelets.html

1966 would have been too early for a 6836, IMO. And if a 78360 was added at service, it may have been later than the early 70s. Production dates are often misinterpreted due to using some poor tables on the internet, so it would be better for you to identify the production era of your watch using the serial number and/or the date inside the case-back. If you post that information, we can probably give you more accurate advice.

Thank you both for your information! I had it recently serviced and appraised, and was able to verify the year (1966) from the S/N databases that were online. The story I was told was that it was purchased for him by a friend in Geneva who then brought it back. I remember as a child that there was a point when the crystal had a lot of condensation inside it, and I suspect that at that point, it was sent in and the bracelet replaced with the 78360 that it currently has. So, I guess I have to search for a 1966 7206 with 80 or 58 ends now!
