Rolex Model 1530 Certified Pre-Owned Question
Out of curiosity: the enclosed Rolex 1530 is currently offered as Rolex CPO (Rolex CPO AD); would Rolex have any qualms about the dial if the watch was submitted for a service; would the dial be considered damaged? Thank you.

The normal response is that Rolex will not perform a service unless you replaced the dial and hands. You need to find a good independent watchmaker which should not be hard. Search here for references.
Rolex doesn't work well with old authentic watches. They only deal in new parts.

CPO pieces must be serviced to receive CPO recognition. This can either be serviced by the AD watchmaker or by an RSC for an AD. I will try and detail the steps below (as these steps exist at my location).
1. The buyer for our store will negotiate with the buyer to procure the watch. Occasionally I will be asked my opinion on the piece. 2. Once purchased, I or a tech will provide the buyer with an estimate for service. These are often a lot stricter than estimates for a customer's piece. However, a dial that looks like the one posted is not grounds for a necessary replacement. What we don't want on a dial is flaking lumi, flaking lacquer or paint, missing markers, scratched printing, or modifications (stones, refinishing, etc.). Discolouration of the dial is acceptable, and it comes down to the individual store if they wish to replace it or not. This holds true for the hands as well. 3. Once my buyer proceeds the estimate, we perform a complete service of the case, bracelet, and movement. The movement must pass all timing tests, and the case must pass water resistance tests. Refinishing of the case and bracelet is not required, and the bracelet is not required to have a specific link count. 4. A photo of the dial back must be submitted to Rolex. 5. The entire watch is shipped to Rolex, where it spends about four weeks getting photographed and QCed. I believe it's around $400 for them to do this. If it passes Rolex QC, it is returned to us with pouch, tag, etc. for us to sell. If it fails any aspect of QC, it is shipped back to us to be corrected. If the watch posted is indeed CPO, then Rolex has signed off on the dial and hands.

If sent for service I’m sure they would replace that. Strange they can sell it as CPO like that however.
