They quoted Reddit users who report their own waiting times which aren’t always true or could be a big time collector bragging.

I’ve noticed there are a lot of anti-Rolex folks on Reddit. Very odd. Mostly full of more complaints compared to other areas I hang out.

Things are slowly getting better than they’ve been, but all of the wait times quoted, both during and after COVID, seem shorter than what we’ve experienced. I am hopeful that in another year things will be markedly improved.

Things may be getting slightly better but not to the degree that this article is depicting.

May depend where you are located. US still involves long waits. Other places not so much. Slowly getting back to normal.

It all depends on where you are located. Some areas in the US have very few ADs and wait times are very long.

So many factors in availability. I would still think it is the difficult watches to get, Daytona/BLRO/Titanium YM, ect. that are and will be the last, if ever, to return to immediate availability.

I went to checkout watches during MLK at CDPeacock in the Chicago area. I was expecting the same smoke and mirrors and availability and it was refreshing to hear a new tune.

The sales person flatly said a Submariner takes six months to get and a Sub LV takes one year. Then he asked what else I was interested in and gave me timelines. It seems things have definitely changed.

He thinks long term customers will be able to get a DJ or basic sub as a walk-in but GMTs, LVs and Daytonas will still be really hard to get.

Very good to hear. Picked up an Explorer 40mm after 2 months and my AD said a sub depending on model 4 months to a year. Does look like things are getting slightly better.

Exhibition Only signs gone at AD I went to in December (UK) watches back with prices in windows and they had watches like the Explorer 40 and 36 available that day for walk ins....like it was in 2018. I go to the same city once a year for Xmas shopping and have done for 20 yrs, pre covid they had pretty much everything except the Daytona priced and in stock. Thank god the nonsense is nearly over. They'll ALWAYS be a wait for certain models....ALWAYS has been the case.

Exactly.

Big city ADs - you’ll have nothing and like it without any significant purchase history. Lists are fantasy.

can always go grey I suppose ...

The key issue is that Rolex wait lists are not wait lists, they are discretionary BS. So someone can get watches quickly, others can not. I have a friend with a watch collection in £ms. When he calls his AD jeweller he can get a professional rolex within a month, but he has been able to do that for the last 10 years.

I am on a Patek waitlist at a boutique. they are so much more honest. Ok you have to wait years but that is because they only make 60k watches a year. There is no mucking around, next in the queue is next in the queue

Righto......

These were my exact wait times on a sub and BLRO within the last two years lol. I don’t know if i really had a wait on the BLRO i said i will be in town on this date, and it appeared. But, that’s so far from the norm. Very lucky to have some very nice friends. You’re not getting a GMT within 90 days for most people and 60 days for a sub.

I would take a guess it’s around 8-12 months on a sub and 1.5 years+ on a GMT on average.
