Move On 124270 For 214270 or 41mm OP?

Is it realistic with the market right now to try and trade my 124270 1:1 for a 214270 or black/blue dial Oyster Perpetual?

My other Rolex is a BLNR and have been wondering if maybe the OP could be a dressier complement (I have both bracelets), or the 214270’s matte dial could be a nice touch.

maybe with a private seller, but still tough because the newer reference worth more @ both MSRP and 2nd market.

most likely no for grey because why would they trade you a newer reference without money on top?

Loving the glossy black dial on the newer references. I suppose the 39 looks more tool like, and may be preferable to some, though. Each to his own. OP, I’d keep what you have, or if size is the issue, trade for the 224270. It can be used for dressy occasions. It’s black, has Mercedes hands. Very versatile piece, IMO.

Thanks for the insight! Hmm, maybe I’m just looking to move things around for no reason—wouldn’t be the first time! My first Rolex was a 114270 and I always have enjoyed this size—I sold that to get the 124270.

Plus, the BLNR complements it much better than if I had a 40mm watch sitting next to so that’s my concern with the 224270. The OP might be a dressier alternative, but not sure if it would be able to dress up and down quite as seamlessly. You might have cracked it thank you!

You are very welcome. Glad I could help. I had a hunch you just had the itch for a change. The 124270 is a near perfect Rolex, for any occasion.
Take care.
