Best Patek around 200k
Been looking at my first Patek but its a one and done. Will not collect the brand.
I am considering the 5270P green, 5204R slate dial or 5370P blue enamel dial. Which one of these is the ultimate Patek under 200k? Are there any others im missing? Cheers |

Depends on the criteria you are using, if its horology then 5204>5370>5270. If its another measure then pick your favourite.

With that budget, I would go with a classic vintage piece like the 3970. Less than 200k too.
Maybe a 3940 1st series with a Doré dial… that would be really cool. |

For a one and done Patek in your price range I'd rather look at 3970 or 5970 than 5270 (or 5204). The 5370P is great but I'd prefer the discontinued black one over the blue variant. From the current catalogue you could pick 5740/1G which combines a thin Nautilus case with the much loved 3940 PC layout.

If you can get a 5204 in that budget, get it.
It’s just another level to the 5270 I own. Same with the 5370p. The finishing and assembly of the movement is another level. |

I’m sure there are some watches out there that might fit the bill but the 5270 would be my best option.

I was in the same boat. I seriously considered the 5370, but ultimately it looked too large on my wrist. I ended up going with a 5970-J. Super happy at this point

As a fortunate owner of both the 5204R-011 (Rose with slate dial) and the 5370P-011 (Blue enamel dial) perhaps I can assist.
Both watches have a relatively modern, youthful and sporty vibe. The green dial 5270 would also fit this profile. I think Patek has made great efforts in recent years to continue to produce excellent complications (based on an in-house, scalable and reliable 29-535 movement) which honour the history of the brand while trying to evolve and make the watches appealing to a younger crowd. A tough balancing act but one that I think they have achieved with great success. If I had to keep one it would most likely be the 5204. The perpetual calendar/rattrapante combo is insanely awesome and it was only produced for one year in this exact configuration. However the 5370 gets a lot of wrist time. If a more casual look is what your are looking for than I would say the 5370 is a good choice, especially when paired with a strap such as blue calfskin. Another factor to consider is that if you will not frequently wear the watch there will be a set up time with your pusher for the Perpetual Calendars to get all of the settings up to date. The 5370 only takes a few seconds to wind and set the time. When I am grabbing a watch from the safe on my way out the door this often pushes me towards the 5370. I think you need to ask yourself what you are looking for in such a watch and which of the three would be most suitable. You can't really go wrong with any of them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
