What straps for 126655 YM Oysterflex?

My 40th is coming up in the next few weeks and I got tired of waiting on an allocation from my dealer so I decided to go gray market for a 126655 RG Yachtmaster on Oysterflex as a present to myself.

Problem is, I'm not certain what strap sizes to get? I've searched around for sizing guides but I keep seeing some conflicting info. Most discussions about sizing on here seem to be for Daytona oysterflex, which I've read wont be the same strap sizes as what you'd want for the YM.

My wrist is 6.5", ~165mm. D-E? E-F? Can anyone help me out?

Each additional letter means an additional bracelet link. For example, D means four links while E five links.

D-E would allow you to set your mini Glidelock to the middle setting and have adjustments both ends (tighter/looser). The E-F combo will have you sit at the tightest Glidelock setting with adjustments for looser only. Source: I own this watch with same wrist size.

What is the perfect fit for a 7" wrist? E-F?? Asking for a friend.

Probably D-F. Although it might be D-E. TBH, you're going to have to go to an AD and ask to be measured with their special tool, or wait until the watch comes in to know for sure. Good luck,

That would probably be good. Although to be sure, have your AD measure your wrist.

I guess so, lol. I've been asking him every month for one of these since early last year. I unfortunately have zero purchase history with them (was hoping to use this as an entry to build some history with them). Apparently I'm just too low on the priority list.

I have a 6.5 inch wrist and initially went with E&F which comes as standard. Ended up going back to the AD and switching to D&F which fits perfectly and I can move up or down the glidelock if needed throughout the day. So, in short, go with D&F.

Does the clasp end up way off center with D-F? You essentially have 4 links on one side, and 6 on the other.

No, it’s centred. It is primarily recommended that there is an imbalance, hence Rolex issue in a E&F configuration. For example, if I went with E&E as opposed to D&F I would achieve a worse result on centring.

No, you're not taking into account the length of the glide lock clasp, which will compensate for the two different strap sizes.

I have D&F as well. Can confirm clasp is still centered and wears similar to my sub and GMT

I went E-E but on a 116655, perfect fit. Oddly enough, Daytona went D-E

I do e and e on that watch and the Daytona. The Daytona feels better. I have less adjustability on the ym. Maybe I should try d f for ym but it’s a PIA changing these and man the case/lugs can get destroyed at some of the ADs from changes. I’ve had like 6 watches on OF and 3 of them got banged up from changes. I only trust one AD now on swaps

Looks awesome...I am in the same wrist size range and similar situation. My AD said mine should arrive by April...but after the price hike this month I have decided to go grey...found several for well under 30K.

For the YM Oysterflex, because it has no end links like the Daytona Oysterflex, you can remove very safely and easily with dental floss. There are a few short YouTube tutorials on this. Works a charm every time. I removed mine at home before bringing to the AD using this method. When putting on then just tape up the lugs.

Floss, amazing! I’ve seen my AD take a razor blade and pop them right off. I almost fainted lol. Worked like a charm.

Congrats on the 126655 an excellent choice for your 40th!

For a 6.5” wrist (~165mm), E-F is likely the best strap combo for the Yacht-Master on Oysterflex. The YM tends to fit slightly differently than the Daytona, but E-F should give you a good balance. D-E might feel a bit tight. If possible, check with the seller to confirm they’ll swap the straps if the sizing isn’t perfect.

Enjoy your new watch and happy early birthday!

Very insightful explanation Duke
