Winder terminology help

Hi. Have a Rolex watch which requires 650 turns per day bi-directional. Documentation on my wolf winder says if set for 650 bi-directional, it will turn 650 each way for 1300 total turns. Is Rolex watch guidance requiring 1300 total turns (650 each way) or 650 total (325 each way)? I’ve talked myself into circles on this subject.

I really appreciate any advice.

Fully manual wind the watch before you put it on and set it to 650. You can't overwind the watch so there's nothing to worry about.

The typical Rolex uses 650 TPD to keep it in a static state of wind. If you set it for twice that then you will be turning the spring inside the barrel causing wear that will eventually affect its ability to hold a wind.

The way to set your watch on a winder is to use the lowest recommended setting. Watch the watch for a few days and if it stops on the winder then you have too low a setting - set it up a notch and do it again.

When Roles says bi-directional, all they mean is that it will wind in either direction, not that you have to wind it in both directions.
