I prefer the YM42. I have owned it in the past and it is a great watch with a lot of versatility. And, it is a Rolex.

The YM is a great piece on the OF, the VC overseas chronograph is something else it’s spectacular with the blue dial. The look and feel and the bracelet is very comfortable, quick change option.

The regular overseas is also very nice, that blue dial is amazing in the light.

They are all very different watches, never say No to the chrono!
No, bad decisions here, get the one that works for you.

Cheers,

I have a SD43 and the 3 hander 4520v. There is a special story with my rolex so i wouldnt sell it. But if I could only have one watch and take sentimentality out of it, it would be the VC 10 out of 10 times.

I'm not an OS fan. I don't particularly like the look of the integrated bracelet. So I'd keep the YM. If it was a RO, or a 222, that'd be a different question.

I would flip the WG to the RG YM.

If it has to be one of the Overseas, then the chron for me.

I have a VC and love the watch as you can see. I was offered the YM with Oysterflex previously but turned it down after handling it. It’s a good looking watch but I can’t get over the fact that it didn’t have end links like other Oysterflex models including both the Daytona or Sky Dweller. The little gaps between the rubber bracelet and the round case, and the little slot they have to mill into the case to make it work really annoyed me. A VC Oversea is so much better in design with the interchangeable bracelet that integrates well with both the steel bracelets or straps. The dial of an VC is also far superior.

You won’t miss the YM once you’ve upgrade to the VC.

Two completely different styles! The YM is more sporty and the VC is more dressy/classic
If you can, I’d do both and I prefer the clean look of the date oversees!

I like the YM as it’s more my style and has ownership qualities I look for in an automatic (robust, affordable to maintain, etc..). They really are two different types of watches.

Personally, the VC. Plus, it comes with a non-chrono version as a free gift.

While the YM is a terrific watch, I do love the overseas (no chrono, please) and would be tempted to making a trade for the right deal. Good luck!

I have a hard time with WG for SS. And as cool as chronos look, they are completely useless, and unused by 99% of owners. I like VCs but I’m a no on this trade idea.

I'd take the overseas for sure. Also has the interchangeable straps.

The Chronograph version adds a cool function, but if you prefer a cleaner look, then the non Chronograph might be the way to go.

Do it. Go with the VC. The blue dial on the VC is the best on the market, and the case, dial, finishing, and movement are superior. The additional rubber strap and leather/gator strap with a quick change mechanism also gives it versatility.

The only negative is the non-hacking movement.

But in a way, this is an unfair comparison for me because I have never been a fan of this iteration of the YM. I always found it unclear what it wanted to be. I'm especially not a fan of the black-on-black bezel. What was the point of that?

I have the YM and love it. For me only one on rubber strap and great when I am somewhere humid/hot. But if you are thinking about it sounds like you might be up for a change. The VC is beautiful and love the metal bracelet plus the quick change. Either way you will have a great watch.

Thx all. Very different answers to the conundrum. I like the the chrono as I don’t have one. I have a deepsea and gmt plus a submersible so the vc chrono will be a good swap.

Could easily say the same about the people that instead of offer advice just moan, I’m no better I can’t stand the endless ‘are nicknames childish’ threads, or ‘is it safe’ …

Agreed! It drives me nuts when a beautiful watch like the VC gets a date window at 4:30. Totally throws it off balance imho. Can’t unsee it.
