I have smaller wrist then you and tried on the 40 a few times and I always feel very comfortable with it. It didn't look ridiculously big considering I wear 40mm sport watches all the time. I had the 36mm DD a few times and yes I agree with others it looks classic but end of the day go with what you feel comfortable with which will trump any validation from internet users.

The last thing you want is to buy the 36 and as soon as you get home wish you bought the 40 which seems to happen all the time with the DD.

I have a 6.8 in wrist and I went with the DD40
To me it has a more sporty look to it and I am a jeans and t shirt guy.
If I wore dress shirts or suits on a regular basis I would have gone 36 mm.
Really comes down to what you wear, how often you want to wear the watch and which you think looks better

Both look good. The 36 wears much dressier and the 40 looks more like a sports watch. So it really depends which look you prefer.
For a casual lifestyle I’d take the 40. If you dress up often for work, dinners, etc., the 36 might be the better choice. But it’s really up to you.

On my wrist, I prefer the 40mm. I've also got a fairly small wrist, fwiw.

I normally never remark on someone's watch, as it's entirely personal preference, but given the superlative assertion, I'll play devil's advocate. I love the 36, but if ever a photo could be a poster child for the 36 being a ladies watch, this, my good sir, would be it. And, again, I adore the 36. Fact of the matter is, DD is not always 36. It was always 36. Now, it is not always. Literally. Not.

Forgive me if this has been posted already but the actual diameter of the DD40 is 38.7mm.

Similarly, the actual diameter of the DJ41 is 39.2mm.

So although they are marketed as 40mm and 41mm, respectively, that is not the actual size. The DD40 will wear smaller.

I prefer the “40” on my 17cm wrist.

The day date is 36mm watch. Remember it’s a quasi dress watch. 36 is perfect

But the wrist is awkwardly twisted in that photo. While I agree completely it is bunk that a DD is “always” better in 36, that photo is meaningless. It doesn’t suggest too small a watch, just a really poor perspective on how that watch likely looks (and perhaps too loose a bracelet to let it sit like that?)

36 or 40 is entirely down to the individual wearing it. Their physique and preference…

I couldn’t participate in the poll because I prefer the 41mm Day Date II. It’s noticeably larger and in my opinion the best day date ever offered for male buyers.

For reference, here’s my DD40 on my 5’6” 137lb frame. My wrists are approximately 6.25” or maybe just a tad larger. I think it looks perfect and never considered the 36 option.
Love the watch. It looks like just my DD40. I have to tease you tho, the watch looks like it's worth more than your car.

All love brother, love to see it. :)

That is really interesting, thanks for sharing. I didn't know that.
