Parts for a 5512 project

Hi,
I was hoping I can get some help. I got a functional Rolex 1560 movement as part of a trade for a watch, and I want to use it to try to put together a 5512 submariner. I know it sounds like wishful thinking but it is one of my dream watches, and I figure that might as well give it a try. I'm new to the vintage watch world so instead of burning money, and wasting my time, I figure I would ask for advise from this community about where to procure the parts that I need for this new endeavor. I saw some dials and hands on Ebay but I havent seen anywhere to get a case. Any idea where I can start looking ?

Google Matthew Green he may be able to help, parts won’t be cheap but worth the effort if you can get nice case and dial, good luck

Not a good idea imho, probably cheaper to buy an original complete 5512.

Going your route and investing a lot of money it will always be a Frankenstein and worth only the sum of parts

I see them here in the parts and accessories section here often. I also see them on eBay quite often like you mentioned.

As long as you aren’t looking to retain value really or care that much about parts matching perfect for what they are and just want a 5513/12 I say go for it. Could be fun to put one back together. A few watches died resulting in all of these parts so even if it’s not a great original watch it might be kind of rewarding putting one back together just for yourself. It’s a frankenrolex of sorts but still a Rolex as long as genuine parts are used.

Make sure that it actually is a movement for a sub. I assume that for the 1560 the date indicator seating is different depending on the reference, just as on the 1570 movement. You have different parts for the Date, DateJust, Turn-o-graph, sport models and the 1530 and 1630 models.

Thanks guys, what's your take on tritium dials and hands? I know this is a never ending debate , but is it safe to add those to the watch? I guess the alternative is the refinished ones with lume but I rather the authentic look. so far, I found a dial for roughly $1200 and a set of hands for $1300. Now as Fredik was saying , the location of the posts on the dial might be a problem. The 1560 movement is for a sub but I ready a lot of posts with issue on the post on the dials

I'd say the movement is the last thing I'd try to build a watch around. A good dial, maybe.

Oh yes so this ∆ - these non-rare calibres are v easily sourcable and not to build around one id suggest.

Imho 5512 by mix of expense/lack of supply 1) dial, 2) mid-case 3) caseback, 4) CALIBRE 5) caseback 6) handset 7) insert 8) bezel 9) acrylic 10) crown/tube - 11) 7206/9315/93150.....
