Not for the faint of heart
No idea how long you're in the collecting / watch enthusiasts hobby ....
But in my case it's just over 30 years ... time flies. Bought my first Rolex sub 16610 halfway the 1990's. That aside ... I also started buying books, magazines etc about watches. Cause back then there was barely internet so forget about forums like this one/ The first one I followed was Timezone.com. If I'm not mistaken that was the first watch related forum. 2005 was the date I registered on this forum, which was from the start. But in this case I watch to have a flashback to the paper magazines from 25-30 years ago. I still have all these and it's a real pleasure to sit back and read these older books and magazines. I literally have several hundreds of them. The only thing that makes you a bit uncomfortable are the secondhand prices :-) some examples ... This is from a 1999 Italian magazine (O&M Montres). One could sell his watch via this magazine cause as I said before .... Internet was not that common 26 years ago LOL Can you imagine ... 820 for s speedmaster Or the same price for a vintage Blancpain Bathyscaphe .... Totally unpopular and unwanted back then Or 1550 for a vintage Rolex 5513 Yes, that's 3600 for this vintage James Bond You want an Aquanaut ? That's 4400 please and of course you can always do me an offer Or more interested in a Vintage Nautilus for 6700 ? Any takers ?? :-) :-)

Thanks for posting this. I’ve still got a few brochures etc from many years ago and the prices are mad.
Ignoring inflation, like most things in life, when your are younger and the prices are cheaper you have so many other demands on your money. As you get older I’ve found that not to be the case. |

I always enjoy looking at stuff like this, as it makes me appreciate the fact the hobby started years ago for me. Crazy to see how much things have changed over the decades.
