Buying in Bahamas

Hi All - I'm buying a no date sub for $9200.00 from Rolex AD in Bahamas. Can anyone tell me what the total cost would be including tax and what the Duty cost would be ? I'm traveling alone to pick it up.

Thank you !

Why not call the AD? They probably see this scenario all the time, and know how it works and what it costs.

Cheers

I've bought a couple of watches in Europe (France) and Caribbean (AUA). The US customs fee calculation is super complicated (even the CPB officers will tell you that) It's a weird calculation with what metals are in the watch, movement type, and strap material, etc...... That all being said, I want to say they simplified it (for themselves perhaps) and it was roughly 3% of the purchase price after the $800 per family member exclusion. YMMV

Don't know specifically what Bahamas charges for their "tax" , but as someone said, just ask the AD.

Enjoy the Sub

If my recollection still stands Bahamas has a 10% VAT structure on most retail items.

I brought a Sub (date) in the country last month. I declared it with customs and they charged me $178.

Good luck,
Tex

Declare it at Customs, chances are pretty good they won’t charge you anything. I’ve never brought a new watch back from abroad but have had a few shipped from overseas with all the proper paperwork and no duties were charged.
