Your call at the end of the day but a white dial datejust is a hard watch to dislike. Clean and classic, everyday wearable in any situation. A pretty solid choice.
Once they have registered the warranty card the watch then becomes used. So will be a hassle for your AD. It can’t be CPO until it’s 3 years old. So for me it’s definetly not going to help you going forward. Especially if you are asking tough to get Daytonas next.

I don't think there is anything wrong with this. It's not like you are flipping the watch for profit or something. You are a genuine, actual customer. The customer is always right. Why agonize if you made a mistake??? No. This is craziness.
Life is short. Don't sweat such a small thing.

You’re not burning any bridges here. In fact, being upfront about what you like can help you build a better relationship with your AD. They’ll remember your preferences and may even keep an eye out for something on your wish list in the future.

Closing the loop on this.
Sorry to not update sooner, but as I mentioned we were on vacation for a week and a half. We were at the AD today, buying something else as I'd mentioned. I asked my SA very frankly if I had made a mistake, and she looked at me shocked. She said "Absolutely not, that's why we have the return policy in the first place". I told her I was concerned because after the return several folks had let me know that's a major faux pas, and that the AD could be stuck with the watch. The status would be in between new and CPO. She said they had processes to handle that and it wasn't even a big deal. Paraphrasing "No problem whatsoever. We'd rather you return a watch that you're not going to wear so we can find something else." Fingers crossed I get a call for something else on my list soon, that's really what'll help me feel like we're all good. |

Over the years I have returned one Rolex and turned down another with no issues on future allocations as long as you are reasonable and polite.
Back in the 2000's I returned a watch because quite frankly i couldn't afford it. Returned months later with a pocket full of cash and bought another with the same AD. Only last year, I turned down a watch due to multiple watch purchases / holidays / Cars etc and the watch in question was very similar to my purchase 3 months before (DJ, Fluted, Jubilee, Baton markers), to then only 6 months later to request the same watch as I had regrets. Trusted AD as always then supplied same watch with now Rolex price increase. The point is, only buy what you love, works with your collection and can afford. If you maintain the relationship you can always buy tomorrow. |

I wouldn't care what an AD thinks but personally I would keep any watch my wife would buy for me as a keepsake and reminder of how special she is.

Since you're dealing with an authorized dealer they sold the watch brand new fully stickered or to your wife, you had the watch for a while you tried it on probably wore it for a little while and just couldn't find any love for that white dial now it's a pre-owned watch the registration the card everything about it being brand new has happened I'm just curious how your authorized dealers going to present this watch to someone else? Any ideas.

So, what I would do is irrelevant, so I will just say this. The dealer is not happy with you and you most likely moved yourself to the bottom of any pretend list or care of fulfilling your future watch needs, unless they try to pass off a hard to sell undesirable watch on you. The chances of you seeing a Daytona or Pepsi now are Zero. I can be wrong, but I doubt it.

On two occasions I have taken home watches from the dealer to show my wife, and in one case she did want a different one. In both instances he did not remove the stickers, size the bracelet or register the warranty. I didn’t do anything anyone could have done handling the watches in the store and no one was any the worse. That is part of sales if it’s a gift.
But actually punching the warranty and such . . . Now as people note it’s a used piece. That would not stop the dealer from selling it as a used watch though, and Rolex would never know or care. |

At this point everything is speculation. The only way you’re really gonna know if you hurt your chances is if/when you get a watch from them. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it, but I would also have some very strong contingency plans if your serious about getting a watch anytime soon.
