Master watchmaker needed for Patek
Many years ago, when gold was high (for the time), for $50 I bought 1926 Patek movement 805298, since the case had been melted down. Because there is no Patek case, neither New York nor Swiss Patek will have anything to do with the watch, and will not even discuss supplying an Extract, servicing the movement, or supplying parts. I can't even figure out the caliber of the movement, and they won't help!
I had the former Hamilton master-casemaker make me a gorgeous sterling case, but in the process, he lost the winding pinion. I am thus in need of a master-watchmaker, who can make me a new pinion. Can anyone suggest such a master-craftsman who can help? I hate to think of relegating the watch to a drawer forever! Can anyone help? Thank you. Tom in Maine |

I remember seeing a YouTube video on a guy in West Los Angeles that was a Master Patek watchmaker. Can’t remember his business name, or his.

Master watchmaker needed for Patek
There were pocket watches, wristwatches, pendants, and many calibers.
Maybe try matching up your movement with this resource: https://static.patek.com/pdf/others/..._Volume_II.pdf Maybe you'll find more info there to talk with a watchmaker. I don't have a name for you - but when you find a master of Patek he/she will know exactly what you have. For example, here is a tank watch movement I found from 1926 and close to your caliber's s/n All you'd know was it's a 10 ligne movement. So is yours about 22.5 mm? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I apologize for not being clear - this is a wristwatch movement, with dial and hands only. Unfortunately, nothing matches up with the resource you sent, for which I am grateful.

Thanks for the additional information. Did yours measure up to the dimension that I mentioned? Maybe the folks here could be more helpful if you post a sharp closeup photo of the movement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The watch is at my watchmaker's, who is unable to make the winding pinion. I attach a picture of the movement and new case. All help with a specific recommendation is appreciated.

APhound: Yes, I would be VERY grateful for an introduction. It hurts me to think that the watch would be of absolutely no purpose in a drawer for my heirs, without a winding pinion.
I'm quite excited to think that my project might be getting closer to being realized. |
