5712 vs 5164a.. third watch??

Now that 5712 has been discontinued, I feel so fortunate to own 2 of the coveted discontinued models. Which do you prefer of the two?

If I were to get a third Patek, what would be your recommendation? I have 3 kids, so I’m planning a third watch for one of the girls, so preferably something I can wear yet possibly pass down to my daughter.. appreciate your inputs..

(I was thinking a 5167r or AP RO 16202st or Daytona panda, but worry the latter 2 are not comparable to a Patek in terms of value. Trying to keep it fair)

Here’s a pic of the 2 watches for comparison

A 5167R would be very nice to add some color to the collection. Or a 5811G.

With two complicated watches I'd want a simple three-hander with date.

This may be anathema to what you're trying to accomplish (e.g., a hand-me-down of Dad's watch; or a justification to buy another watch that you yourself will enjoy?), but perhaps buy your wife a ladies Patek so she can hand it down.

The 4897 is a beautiful piece, for example, and will likely stand the test of time. That's the direction I went for my daughter. Just a thought...

Are you getting one of the three at retail or grey market? I have all three and I think the 5167r is my favorite. Different vibe compared to the 5614a; perfect blend of bling and sporty. The 16202 will always be a classic, IMO.

I say get the 5167r or 16202. The Daytona is nice but doesn’t feel special to me compared to the other two.

I'd try to make sure that the watch will fit your daughter's eventual wrist size. Both 5167 and 16202 are no small watches. Doable on my 6.6 inch wrist (although I'd prefer the smaller 5165 over 5167) but likely very large on many women.

Agree with making sure it will fit your daughter later on. Would suggest considering 7118, maybe one without diamonds. Might run slightly small/midsize for you but for a daughter that would be perfect.

Great collection! I'm biased, but I'd vote for the Daytona. Your daughter could comfortably wear it and you would enjoy it immensely until then.

Depends on the wrist size but Aquanaut 5066A would be perfect : unisex watch, slightly smaller than 5167

Neither of these, but rather a 5260 rose gold. There are two variations, can’t go wrong with either.

Thanks JerBear!

Yeah I love the panda too.. a gorgeous daily.. perhaps eventually would just get some Rolexes for all 3 to be fair.. that might be a better option?

I think 5167r makes sense as the third watch. Nautilus for son and 2 aquanauts for the girls.

Alternatively just get 3 Rolexes when they turn 21.. they are still so young now.. 5,9,11 years old LOL.. they may not appreciate my Pateks 😭
