I appreciate the thoughtful replies. My intentions weren't to drag up similar threads, but more of putting my thoughts down. I enjoy all of my watches and tend to change a few times a day. As my time with several timepieces grows, my feelings and preferences are evolving. They all have their strengths and weaknesses (to a degree) and I was just curious of others thoughts that are further along in their watch journey.
I'm looking forward to picking up the LV Sub soon as I suspect I'll really enjoy that as a daily wear. Likewise, a BLNR or GRNR SS GMT II would be one I'd love to get some extending time with as well. Eventually I'd love to add a SS and OF PM Daytona. Each addition tends to send me down another path that sometimes I could have predicted but other times surprised me a bit.

The "best" is always going to be subjective. I can see an argument for either the Submariner or Daytona.
I think the 124060 is the best modern representation of the niche that Rolex best fills: luxury, mass produced, sports (professional) models. The Submariner is an icon, the most copied watch. While the cyclops is a huge component of the Rolex design language, I think the "no date" Submariner is the purest form of the watch. It came first. It only comes in one configuration. If I could only ever own one Rolex, this would be it. The Daytona is now the most desired Rolex. I am not sure if that makes it the best. I certainly contend it's one of the best chronographs to have ever existed along with the Speedmaster. I'd throw an honorable mention to the Datejust in all it's configurations as it's the most pervasive Rolex. |

For me, the best is whichever of my collection I wear that day.

Dollar for dollar and when it comes to accuracy, the best watch Rolex makes is Tudor.

Of course this is something quite subjective and it depends on personal requirements. For me, it would be a Sub Date: serious but sporty, robust, comfortable and classy. Perfect combo.

I think for a daily watch that is just enough special would be the white gold meteorite Daytona on OF. I like it on the OF for the ceramic bezel and special dial. We would also say the same for the lemans. The rainbow and off catalog pieces are cool but u don’t see them as a daily watch
Honestly almost any Rolex could be a one and done. So there isn’t a wrong or right answer. A date just or a sub/gmt may be a perfect daily for most. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
