Choosing my 4th and final piece
Hi all. State of the collection per my post here:
https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=972619 I'm already waiting for the BLNR, but the Patek Calatrava 3919J is also one of my grails and also my first PP. I'm really tempted to get this one from my AD and it's circa 1990s. Thoughts everyone? Any issues or potential difficulties on servicing this watch long-term? Feedback appreciated. Cheers! So much for being content with your three watches!
Timeless watch. If it'll make you happy then I vote go for it. I'll await your new thread in short while titled "anyone content with their 4 watches?" |

I remember when my 4th watch was my last watch
![]() My previous gen Calatrava was satisfied with the 5120G. My ocd didn't like the small seconds hand being so high up on the 5119 and 3919, a sign of a vastly undersized movement for the case

I'd resist the urge - three is a great number for Alain. While service shouldn't be an issue I am not a fan of hobnail bezels and romans.

Not my favorite. So many choices available in pre-owned PP I would look around a bit.

It has the workhorse 215ps movement which is a basic service when needed. You can't go wrong with this watch if it is what you like.

Servicing, no. Patek serviced everything they ever made even going to the point of preserving original tooling and such to re-fabricate parts as needed.
Have you seen this in person? It’s really small. |

Agree, that placement would bug me on a HH piece.

Nope that is Manual wind - May I suggest 5120 or 3802 ? Automatic wind .I had the 5120 , wish I had kept it - when you get a PP one is never enough

Good to know, thanks! I have not, but I will be trying it on from my AD next week. I expect it to be thin and small. I have small wrists and 34mm is my sweet spot for a traditional dress watch, so it ticks all the boxes for me. |

The 3919 is at a good price point at this time.
If you like its size versus the 5919 then so much the better. But if you haven't tried a 5919, please do that before committing. Much success on this acquisition + the other watch you're waiting on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
