I am not so sure about Hamilton coming into Ferrari and unseeding Leclerc....the guy is 40, new car, a new chassis, never did simulator work with MB, a new language, and new everything. I would love it if he did get his 8th Championship with Ferrari, but I am being a little cautious with my enthusiasm.

I'm inclined to agree, tho Alonso is doing quite well at his age..
This is Hamiltons 'swan song' so he's sure to give it a go. I guess we'll see how good he is...!

The Official Formula One Thread!

Quiet lately so thought some might enjoy a short sort of video of F1 historic JPS with FIA & Richard Mille.

https://youtu.be/VuFx-1cLqqY?si=fO04J-ou90OHE-KP

After the first part are some Rally and other historics.

Apparently the Rolex F1 sponsorship deal was $50million per annum.

In 2025 Rolex has been replaced by LVMH for a rumoured $100million per annum with Tag Heuer being the main brand under that banner but with LVMH also being able to advertise its other brands ( Louis Vuitton and Moët, Hennessy etc.)

I think Rolex made a good decision to step aside especially since the price increases on their watches have been crazy in recent times...

Makes sense. Cannot wait to see what LV comes out with for F1-related swag.

The Official Formula One Thread!

I agree Steve.

Rolex had squeezed the last drop of value from the F1 arrangement before the pandemic and really had nothing to gain from any continuation of brand positioning.

Being a single prestige brand with two lesser ones (Cellini & Tudor) there was little pull through especially after shuttering Cellini.

They were not able to defend their positioning since Moët & Chandon is set to replace Ferrari Trento as a part of the agreement with the LVMH.

LMVH, on the other hand, can activate across multiple brand types beyond TAG like Louis Vuitton and Moët.

Heuer, and now TAG Heuer, as a watch brand also has a very long strand of double helix DNA in racing. Plus, you can actually buy one in a store devoid of pretension.

Timeline Of Achievements*
1887 - Launched the oscillating pinion in Chronographs
1911 - The first board chronograph is released for trackside use.
1916 - World’s first stopwatches “Micrograph” with a precision of 1/100th seconds.
1933 - Unveiled first on-board models for race cars + released the Autavia
1949 - The Solunar is released with a tidal display.
1950 - the Mareograph Seafarer became the first chronograph to incorporate a tide indicator and dial for regattas.
1964 - First chronograph with a functional dial, “The Carrera” released to celebrate the Carrera Panamericana Mexicana
1966 - The Microtimer debuts as the first affordable electronic stopwatches to house 1/1000th precision.
1969 - Release of the automatic chronograph “Chronomatic” movement
1969 - Release of the Monaco, the world's first waterproof automatic chronograph to feature a square case.
1975 - Chrono Split introduced as the world’s first quartz wrist worn chronograph.
2005 - Calibre 360 Concept released at BaselWorld 2005 as the world's first high-beat mechanical wrist worn piece with a 1/100th accuracy.
2011 - The Mikrotimer Flying 1000 Concept Chronograph is the world's first mechanical chronograph and measures periods of time up to 1/1000th of a second.

Agree, as a conglomerate, LVMH would pay those prices and spread them across their brands.

Thankfully, that insufferable OCO is out of GAS's way. The inner three-year-old in me looks forward to seeing "DOO" on the timing tables. I hope that OCO has an unremarkable time at Haas & disappears from F1. If race-winning Checo can be axed, no reason why OCO should still stick around.

I mean, one can hope!

I'd love to see an intense 3 way title fight, with Hamilton being victorious at Ferrari

The Ferrari memorabilia train has already started. I received the email offers from Ferrari Scuderia and Lewis Hamilton dressed in all sorts of their gear. Lewis is going to sell soooo much of the Ferrari attire, just imagine all the Lewis Hamilton fans in Britain and across the world. They have to ditch the Mercedes gear for the new Ferrari gear. $$$$$$$$$

I’ve just read that, Ferrari generate more than $2 billion in merchandise sales…………which is slightly more than the revenue generated, by their car sales.
Hard to believe.

The Official Formula One Thread!

Ferrari net revenues outside of car production are inclusive of fashion collections, merchandising, licensing and royalty income.

It's all lumped together.

Doohan has been given 6 races to prove he's worthy....I've got my doubts.

It's a big ask to come into F1 in a third or fourth string team and make a mark in the first 6 races of the year....
Many are called but few are chosen.

I saw some interesting endplates and think Ferrari didn't show the true one. But that's to be expected.

Mercedes had a huge set of plates that'll outwash more than anyone. But it may be "droopy" - Bahrain test Feb 26 should be interesting.

Big loser of the night? Had to be FIA

When their logo appeared the loudest booing - and the swearing rule came under fire. Jack Whitehall humorously called out chef Gordon Ramsey as a Scottish Mary Berry. And then he posed the Q. What about swearing? Ramsey said it shouldn't be an issue to thunderous applause - and then he dropped sh*t bomb live.

P2 loser was Horner when he got 30%-ish booing...

It'll be a very interesting season my friends.

Liked the teaser of the Bruckheimer F1 movie.

Hire DOGE and fire the FIA, no longer needed. F1 deserves better. Plus, Paul, you can do better too. Surely you're valued in American leagues. Or retire with your FIA friends, it's time to enjoy the good life, you don't need F1 antics and Hunger Games action sports gaming.

SCCA is better, real racing.

Paul, honestly, you can do better. Surely IMSA or ??? could use your talents.
