What do you think is 1680 red?

Hello everyone, I'm looking at this 1680 red from 1971 and I'd like to know what you think of it. Do you think it's all period original? Any questions? What I do know is that the bracelet is a 9315 but from 1978 (letter C). Otherwise, I'd need your help. Thanks in advance!

Mk IV dial is period-correct but the insert strangely appears to be earlier. The biggest condition issue jumping out at me is the case, especially the crown guards. Papers are nice, but condition is most important.

Edit: Sorry, MF obviously not a Mk IV. Looked too quickly.

Thanks for your opinion, a good contribution. I thought the sphere was a Mk III.

Very nice collector's set. Pics are not the best but the package looks outstanding!

Could be a nice set for someone. The crown guards are in very poor, over-polished condition. The same polishing wheel over-worked the lugs in a few spots also.

Also, I would think the caseback would be dated earlier than 1971. The set is missing the Oyster booklet as well as the green hang tag while the red hang tag is from the 1980s. The Submariner booklet should be the USA version being it was sold in the USA. The bracelet is much later than the watch. It would be nice to know if any of the paperwork is dated.

For me, this watch has a few red flags for a vintage set.

71 caseback looks good for this serial.
The quality of pics are not the best in some angles the crown guards look very thin and others just overpolished. This is a buyer's choice. Double punch papers is a nice addition. As far as the red seal, I really can't tell based on that picture if it is an 80s. The bracelet, I guess he knows is a later year based on production year of the watch.

But if it is a legit MF, it is rare to find specially with papers. Hopefully price is good.

Thanks for the comments! Yes, the bracelet is the same reference but from 1978, I suppose it must have been changed in some service, I think only the clasp was changed. As for the back cover, could it be the original? Brand I-71, the watch is 282*****. The Submariner brochure has a sticker from the NY distributor, so I think it is the original they gave him. The asking price is $26,000.

Clasp:

This is the warranty booklet, undated.

It's hard to swallow that price given the condition of the case. I'm guessing that they are fishing for someone who really values the accessories highly.

2.8 serial mf dial? Long 5 insert? Mixed bag papers? 28K? That’s a big ask.

In euros, it is €25,000, since I am in Europe.

My point is that a 2.8 m case is very late for a mf dial and long five insert. I would view these as issues if I was buying.

I don't like these engravings. They kinda look like Typeface C which was only introduced around case number 3.0 million.

Cheers

Curios is a 1972 w/ mkV dial like this one is worth thinking about? The guy is in France. It's $22k USD Box and papers, or at least most papers. Bracelet date code does not match, but looks nicer than the one you've shown.

I mentioned the case back stamping in another post. I have three examples here with mid to high 2 million serials and they have 1969 case backs and one is an early I 70 case back.

Be extra careful having a watch shipped to the USA from outside the USA. If the shipping or seller goes "south" you'll never see your money again.
