1940 rolex value

This watch does not work...not sure what is wrong with it. It has the original case and original warranty papers. Can anyone give me a rough idea of its value as is?
Thanks in advance

Heirlooms and older watches such as this are not as popular as the highly collectible men's sport/professional models.

Best response is through an auction house. Vanity values can be found throughout the Internet

It looks like a 9k gold or a gold-capped ladies watch. Look around its caseback for some hallmarks to know which. The bracelet too.

Even if it is solid gold, in working condition, it is worth more than its melt value.

Do your internet work like Larry said.

This model goes in the $2000-ish range and has a much plainer chainlink bracelet.
