Tudor Prince

Any one know anything about Tudor Prince?

Like the look of this- due to expedition heritage but no sod all about buying a vintage!

It looks like a beautiful piece. I had a Rolex OP from ‘56 for a while and I miss it now. Vintage looks great!

Fortunately, the Tudor would be much cheaper to service than a Rolex from the similar timeframe.

As far as judging the complete authenticity of it, I hope others will help there as I’m not so great at that yet.

If it looks good to you and seems completely legit, I wouldn’t hesitate as long as you plan dropping an extra $500 or so for a service.

Looks nice and for that price a good vintage piece. I’m more familiar with the modern price line than the vintage.

Cheers,

34 mm is just too small for me.
Id rather a older 36 mm DJ
But if you like it and the size works for you, do it!

7909 is a great model. They wear bigger than 34, much closer to 36mm. Dial is interesting and crown is correct. Hands I’m unsure. Be aware of vat charges which will make it less interesting!!

'Prince' was Tudor-speak for 'automatic', so any automatic Tudors from back in the day had 'Prince' (or 'Princess' for ladies' watches) on the dial.

Fun fact: The first and only Tudor watch to say 'Automatic' on the dial was the ref. 951, which which was the predecessor of the 7909.

One thing I noticed; the watch in your link has case holes for spring bars only on the non crown side. Not sure if having holes on one side is normal. I’ve never seen that on Rolex or Tudor. FURTHERMORE, the stock picture provided by another member along with a brief history shows case holes on the crown side….

Not sure what to make of that

7909

This is my Tudor 7909 with 7205 Bracelet.
It's a very nice watch!
I like the one you are looking at.
