Considering a Panerai..
I’m interested in a Submersible. After doing a lot of research it seems like many people are talking about the decline of Panerai. Do you think there is a risk that Panerai wont be around in the future? Do you think it is a stable brand?

Panerai is a solid brand that I doubt is going anywhere. They have had some missed steps. But for me that does not diminish the quality of their watches. There’s great value in their preowned pieces.

I don’t think Panerai is going away. Over recent decade they have tried some new designs and ideas for marketing purposes that deviated from their core. And there have been some complaints on here of poor customer service. They might be outlier occurrences. I have always had good experiences. I think you have to be selective in what you buy and beat to look to preowned if you can.

Panerai will be there forever, there is no other watch brand designed like it , it can be recognised instantly without any doubt.
Buy it only if you love it.

The brand still has a good following, I love wearing the 3 I have a lot lately. Check into a 24 or a 1024 in regards to a submersible.

Thank you all. I have my eye on a 44 esteel in blue. Not the most classical one but I like the polished appearance. I asked chatgdp about the performance of Panerai, and it replied that IWC was doing a lot better in the group. A bit surprising.

I have been round and round with Panerai since the early 2000's. Loved them and then not so much and back and forth. My lesions are always buy pre-owned and complete and it should be 40-50% off original retail. Remember any sell or trade, even at that amount, is probably going to be for less. The watch game is fun and part of the fun is trying different watches and brands but do yourself a favor and stick with the more mainstream brands, especially for a diver. For a fraction of the cost you can get a super nice Seiko diver and save up for something else. Just my thoughts. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Thanks, yes - thats the one. I thought the same regarding the strap. I understand there is a rubber strap included in the box?

Yes, both nylon (with leather strips on it, so not water safe), and a rubber strap. Mine came with a black rubber strap, not sure what color comes with the blue face. I talked them (company store) into throwing in a black nylon strap, but it wasn't easy.

Ultimately, the decision to invest in a Panerai watch comes down to your personal preference and how much you appreciate the brand.

Hey, if they go bust, you have a collector’s item! I have two Panerais, enjoy them, not worried that they were more popular than they are now.

Great brand.
In case you need it and it bothers you, know that some of the movements in some models, including the Subs, do not have hacking seconds. I’ve owned quite a few over the years but only 2 have stuck. My 233 dot dial and 1055 Submersible that Panerai actually honored and made only 500. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's a solid brand and I don't think it's going anywhere.
I like their watches and at one point in my collecting I was almost exclusively Panerai. For some, it's almost a cult like following. The key is don't pay retail. They are heavily discounted in the secondary market. Another fun part of PAM is the straps. It can get out of hand quickely. ![]() |
