In this market it is a very tough call!
I know the one you are looking at and it is beautiful and crisp but the sellers
price is absurd especially with this market.
I have seen other very nice examples at about half the price sit unsold in these times.
There is another one out there for about 29K OBO, granted it has been polished at some point so the edges are not as crip nor does it have papers but it isn't even selling at that asking price let alone 40K
Id say sometwhere in the low to mid 20's. Perhaps living on the edge and buying long term upper 20's since it has all the papers BUT again a BIG negative is the caseback.... Purists will bitch about the engraving and finding another period correct one would not be an easy task BUT come on Anastasios, you know this all better than any of us!

Please let us know what you do with this one, it really is beautiful and an amazing short run piece of the GMT history.

Anastasios,
I myself thought 29k Euro was high.It has been I thought well advertised so it is still for sale?It looks nice and those bezels are super hard to find. The date wheel?A just offer is 1 that you and him are happy with. The last 1 I saw no box no papers sold for around 14k US

I think I know the one you are looking at and for 40k (29k Euro), I doubt anyone will buy it.

A more reasonable price is probably 20-25k. Anything less than 20k I would buy it!

Thank you everybody for your kind input

I did have the watch in my hands this past weekend in Munich Germany
A great looking part of Rolex history that I must own for the right price.
I am in contact with the seller who is a fellow collector and a watch dealer.

A Just Offer might be fair, but below what the seller wants.
Or higher than the seller thinks it is worth.

How about 65% of retail?

yeah 65% sounds right to me . You figure retail was maybe $300, $195 sounds real fair.

That Bakelite bezel insert is worth more then a brand new Rolex alone

Onkyo, you are right in the target range. The seller is fishing at that price.
