Carlos Sainz has been appointed as the new director of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA), succeeding retired four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel in the role.

I managed to book a last minute trip for Monaco this year, but I’m zipping in and out just for race day and will have to watch quali on TV sadly.

Sadly, we all know Manaco is not a race, more of an exhibition event in the style of The Hunger Games at the Capitol City. Did you desire to reserve your Yacht girls or other fun meetings while there since the exhibition is very predictabnle after qual?

The only time Monaco becomes a race is when the rain falls. The number of opportunities for overtaking increases due to traction problems and braking.

Of course it becomes a slower event and miserable for the spectators.

But some epic drives have some I. The rain there.

Idea: If it's another boring Monaco dry race, the FIA could dictate wetting the track (at random between laps 10 and 20). This makes sense as it gives fans the opportunity to have some guarantee of excitement. There will be no wet tyres, so just a light watering, as we want to be environmentally responsible both in water usage and tyre waste.

You're on to something - last week Monaco's repeated processionals was discussed in London. (Definitely boring)

While the snoring here might drown out quiet conversations, with the aim of promoting better racing at the Monaco Grand Prix, the F1 commission discussed proposals for Monaco-specific regulations. They agreed to increase the numbers of mandatory pit stops in the Race. No sprinkler system though...

That and other proposals will be discussed by the Sporting Advisory Committee in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

Yeah, heard something about Monaco pit stop... sure, at the world's WORST and i guess most DANGEROUS pit area let's mandate more of that. Actually, mandate FOUR pit stops, that should make for an interesting 'race'.

Seriously, wetting the track at random intervals.

And agree.... F1 is utterly boring. And e-F1 'racing' reminds me of NASCAR drafting.

Paul, lightly wetting the track... or how about Go-Karts? i could see shifter kart racing being quite exciting.

I think my wife would be pissed haha.

I wouldn’t mind hitting the casino and gambling a bit.

I’m a huge f1 fan, wearing a red bull sweater right now! But you’re right, it’s so boring at times for me. I will not watch Monaco until i see qualifying results and end race results. If someone made a crazy charge, I’ll watch. If not, i don’t even tune it. It’s so bad.

I love the sport but it’s been stale. We had a few really great seasons IMO, last year was a snooze fest. We need nascar rules. The same engine, gear box, chassis, ext. let them toy with the wings. Cars being super evenly matched would be an interesting dynamic in f1. We could see young guys compete at these smaller teams.

It’s weird to have a sport where if you came in 5/10 teams, you had an incredible year you would celebrate (Williams).

Bernie once half jokingly said they should have sprinklers at all the tracks and turn them on randomly.

Monaco is great..... for qualifying. The race not so much, but don't know how you can get it off the F1 Calendar with all it represents insofar as the tradition and sponsor events.

I thought last year was very exciting, right up there with 2021 as anyone of 4 teams could win on a given weekend depending on the the track.
